English | ISBN: 3031503910 | 2024 | 361 pages | EPUB | 717 KB
This book addresses the relationship between religion, climate change, and food security in Africa. Contributors to this volume interrogate how and to what extent religion in Africa serves as a resource (or confounding factor) in responding to Sustainable Development Goals 13 (action on climate change) and 2 (achieve Zero Hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture). Approaching the theme from diverse disciplinary and methodological angles, contributors probe the potential role of religion in Africa to accelerate the achievement of these two SDGs, especially the role of religion with regard to food availability, food accessibility, food utilization, and food systems stability.

Free Download Raman Mittal, "Relevance of Duties in the Contemporary World: With Special Emphasis on Gandhian Thought"
English | ISBN: 981191835X | 2023 | 403 pages | EPUB | 648 KB
This book reflects on the significance of duties in creating an egalitarian society by collating and contextualizing the relevant literature. It particularly focuses on an appreciation of Gandhi's views on duty to showcase how they remain pertinent to create a cohesive, responsible and value-based society in the present right-dominated world. A viable solution to the current real world problems could be found in exploring the philosophy on duties and the book provides relevant literature in this regard. It undertakes jurisprudential analysis of duty in a rights-dominated world, identifying the gaps in realising the potential of duty to address the critical issues of the present times. It argues that enforcement of rights depends heavily on the observance of duties and proposes coherence in right-duty relationship. Gandhian thought on duty recognises duty as a precursor to rights and emphasises that the observance of duties guarantees the enforcement of rights. The relevance of duties and Gandhian thoughts on the same is not restricted to India but transcends borders with profound appeal. Gandhian thoughts have become even more relevant in the current times to examine the situation of COVID-19 pandemic, racial discrimination (BLM), environmental crises, digital divide, health care and medical care crises, refugee and migrant labour problems and it can offer promising solutions based on the nuances of social solidarity, self realisation of duties/responsibilities, local governance, compassion and humanity.

Relational Frame Theory: What is it? Why is it important? How can I use it? This book dispels the confusion surrounding Relational Frame Theory and provides an easy-to-understand briefing of Relational Frame Theory and its' components, with examples to enhance and ease understanding. Recent research has indicated that Relational Frame Theory may form the cornerstone of language and intelligence and this textbook integrates this information into an easily digestible format, considering the importance of each relational frame from coordination to analogy. Relational Frame Theory provides a potentially useful framework for teaching language and academic skills and the current textbook provides some examples of how to do this and offers some considerations for future research in this area.

It employs a problem-based approach and qualitative doctrinal legal research methodology to assess the potential of MaaS in enhancing the efficiency, accessibility, sustainability, digitalization, multimodality, competitiveness, and convenience of the EU passenger transport sector, while identifying shortcomings in current EU regulatory frameworks that may impede its growth and analysing potential harms that rise of MaaS might cause to competition and users. The book concludes by providing recommendations aimed at enhancing the EU legal frameworks, with the goal of establishing a unified and harmonized framework that promotes an open, competitive, and multimodal MaaS market. In summary, producing a book on the regulatory challenges of MaaS in the EU now can contribute to the ongoing discourse, provide valuable insights, and offer guidance for policymakers, regulators, industry stakeholders, and researchers involved in shaping the future of mobility.

Free Download Ancui Liu, "Regulating Genetically Modified Crops in View of Environmental Risks: China's Implementation of International Obligation"
English | ISBN: 9811924791 | 2022 | 249 pages | EPUB | 382 KB
This book analyzes international and Chinese regulatory approaches addressing environmental risks that may be caused by GM crops and examines how China implements its international obligations in its policies and laws. Using the legal doctrinal method, the book discusses the precautionary principle and the public involvement principle, as well as several legal measures at the international law level and in Chinese law. It observes that legal principles and measures as provided for in China's GMO legal framework have generally implemented the international obligations regarding the prevention of environmental risks that may be caused by the cultivation of GM crops and related activities. However, the book argues that Chinese law lacks an explicit codification of the precautionary principle, and the same is true with regard to public participation; the regulatory framework lacks specific obligations. It concludes that future research should focus on the application and enforcement of therelevant Chinese legislation, and that it is also important to investigate how the environmental risks that may be caused by new techniques, such as genome-editing techniques, could be prevented, given the experience gained by regulating the cultivation of GM crops and related activities.
