This collection examines cultural interactions between Germany and Brazil from the Early Modern period to the present day, especially how authors, artists and other intellectuals address the development of society, intervene in the construction and transformation of cultural identities, and observe the introduction of differing cultural elements in and beyond the limits of the nation. The contributors represent various academic disciplines, including German Studies, Luso-Afro-Brazilian Studies, Cultural Studies, Linguistics, Art History and the social sciences. Their essays cover a wide range of works and media, and the issues they address are relevant not only for each of the scholarly disciplines involved, but also in discussions of current cultural practices in connection to all forms of media. The collection thus serves as a model for further intercultural research, since it calls into question the very terms through which we understand the relationships between cultures, as well as their products, practices, and perspectives. ![]() Free Download Kubernetes: Practical Guide for Developers and DevOps Teams-From Container Basics to Advanced Helm Deployments (Rheinwerk Computing) by Kevin Welter English | September 26, 2024 | ISBN: 1493226460 | 450 pages | MOBI | 8.96 Mb Unravel the complexities of Kubernetes with this hands-on guide! No one was more acutely aware than Ruohomaa that his work was capturing a way of life that was rapidly fading. Before his work in Maine, however, Ruohomaa started out with Disney, then went on to become a freelance photographer for the Black Star Agency, where he was a regular contributor to Life, National Geographic, Look, and Ladies Home Journal. His true passion, however, was documenting the lives of the people of Maine. In this biography by curator Deanna Bonner-Ganter, of the Maine State Museum, Kosti's life and work is made relevant and important to an audience that may be unfamiliar with his work. ![]() Free Download Korean and Korean American Life Writing in Hawai'i : From the Land of the Morning Calm to Hawai'i Nei By Heui-Yung Park 2015 | 197 Pages | ISBN: 1498507670 | EPUB | 1 MB Korean and Korean American Life Writing in Hawai'i examines such self-representing genres as lyric poems, oral history, autobiography, and memoirs written by Korean and Korean Americans from the early twentieth century to the present, in order to explore how these people have shaped their individual or collective identities. Their representations, produced in different periods by successive generations, reveal how Koreans in their diaspora to Hawai'i came to terms with their ethnic and local selves, and also how the sense of who and what they are changed over the years, both within and beyond the initial generation. Looking into their individual and collective identities in lyric poems, oral history, autobiography, and memoirs reveals how the earliest arrivals, their children, and their grandchildren have come to terms with their national, ethnic, and local selves, and how their sense of identity changes over the course of time, both within and beyond the initial generation. In the lyric poems found in Korean-language periodicals of the native-born generation, we can trace the significance of the motherland and Hawai'i for these writers' sense of identity. The oral histories of first-generation women, most of whom arrived as picture brides, also represent another "us": often vulnerable Koreans who define themselves in relation to both the present culture and to Korean men. The self developed by the second-, third-, and in-between-generation Koreans diversifies because their identity is not defined exclusively by their ancestral land, extending to Hawai'i and to America. This study focuses on three main areas of emphasis: Hawai'i; Korean language and culture; and life writing. By tracing how identity changes with each generation, this study reveals how identity formation for Hawai'i diasporic Koreans has evolved. ![]() Free Download Knowledge-Based Project Management with the Help of AI and Cloud Techniques: Systematic Reuse of Experience-Based Knowledge about Safety-Critical IT Projects Based on Ontologies, Case-Based Reasoning and Word2Vec by Stephan Zelewski, Ganen Sethupathy English | 2025 | ISBN: 3832559027 | 280 Pages | PDF | 12.9 MB |
