Broadening the Genetic Bases of Crop Production By H. David Cooper, Charlie Spillane, T. Hodgkin
2001 | 461 Pages | ISBN: 0851994113 | PDF | 3 MB
This book focuses on the previously neglected interface between the conservation of plant genetic resources and their utilization. Only through utilization can the potential value of conserved genetic resources be realised. However, as this book shows, much conserved germplasm has to be subjected to long-term pre-breeding and genetic enhancement before it can be used in plant breeding programmes. The authors explore the rationale and approaches for such pre-breeding efforts as the basis for broadening the genetic bases of crop production. Examples from a range of major food crops are presented and issues analysed by leading authorities from around the world.

He won fame as a war hero operating for almost three and a half years behind enemies' line during World War II in Japanese occupied Malaya.

Daniel Todman, "Britain's War: Into Battle, 1937-1941"
English | ISBN: 019062180X | 2016 | 848 pages | MOBI | 4 MB
Great Britain's refusal to yield to Nazi Germany in the Second World War remains one of the greatest survival stories of modern times. Commemorated, evoked, and mythologized as it has been-chiseled and engraved onto countless monuments, the subject of an endless stream of books and films-its triumphant outcome was by no means predetermined. In December 1940, months after war was declared, the director of plans at the War Office in London was asked to draft a paper on how to win the war. He replied that he could only plan "for not losing."

Brill's Companion to Propertius (Brill's Companions in Classical Studies) By Hans-Christian Gunther
2006 | 476 Pages | ISBN: 9004136827 | PDF | 4 MB
The present volume provides a comprehensive guide to one of the most difficult authors of classical antiquity. All the major aspects of Propertius' work, its themes, the poetical technique, its sources and models, as well as the history of Propertian scholarship and the vexed problems of textual criticism, are dealt with in contributions by Joan Booth, James Butrica, Francis Cairns, Elaine Fantham, Paolo Fedeli, Adrian Hollis, Peter Knox, Robert Maltby, Tobias Reinhardt and Richard Tarrant; due space is also given to the reception of the author from antiquity and the renaissance (Simona Gavinelli) up to the modern age (Bernhard Zimmermann). At the centre stands an interpretation of the four transmitted books by Gesine Manuwaldt, Hans-Peter Syndikus, John Kevin Newman, and Hans-Christian Gunther.

Briefe von Georg Huth (1867-1906) an Berthold Laufer, 1895-1898: Korrespondenz Laufers mit verschiedenen Adressaten
Deutsch | 7 Jan. 2026 | ASIN: B0GFFLN74S | 102 Seiten | EPUB (True) | 968.56 KB
