Kein Entwicklungsprojekt ist wie das andere und mit jedem wird Neuland betreten. Diese abwechslungsreichen, sich gleichzeitig stetig wandelnden, aber verantwortungsvollen Aufgaben werden im Maschinenbau und in der Elektrotechnikindustrie vielfach von Konstrukteuren übernommen. Die Ausbildung von Konstrukteuren steht damit vor großen Herausforderungen: Sie muss dem Wandel der Tätigkeitsfelder und Anforderungen mit angepassten Ausbildungskonzepten begegnen, auf den Umgang mit der stetigen Weiterentwicklung vorbereiten und gleichzeitig attraktiv sein für den potenziellen Konstrukteurnachwuchs.Vor diesem Hintergrund rief acatech das Projekt „Konstrukteur 2020" ins Leben. Ziel war es, Lösungsansätze für eine Verbesserung des Berufsimages zu entwickeln sowie Vorschläge für eine zeitgemäße, zukunftsweisende Hochschulausbildung und Weiterbildung von Konstrukteuren zu erarbeiten, die den Erwartungen der Industrie Rechnung tragen. Die vorliegende acatech STUDIE dokumentiert die Detailergebnisse der empirischen Untersuchungen und Workshops dieses Projekts.
