Phytochemical management of ecological systems represents an integrative field aiming for determination/evaluation of environment conditions from qualitative and quantitative analysis of plant metabolites. Plants respond to environmental conditions through productions of secondary metabolites. SMs represent highly variable and sensitive phytocompounds because of their small produced amounts, high structural variability and diversified activities. These characteristics make variations of SMs in plants to be highly informative on environmental conditions, physiological states and biological interactions. Qualitative and quantitative variations of SMs in plants are subject to correlation analyses to highlight links between biotic/abiotic conditions and plant chemical patterns. ![]() Free Download Searching the Heavens and the Earth: The History of Jesuit Observatories by Augustín Udías English | PDF | 2003 | 377 Pages | ISBN : 140201189X | 39.8 MB Jesuits established a large number of astronomical, geophysical and meteorological observatories during the 17th and 18th centuries and again during the 19th and 20th centuries throughout the world. The history of these observatories has never been published in a complete form. Many early European astronomical observatories were established in Jesuit colleges. ![]() Free Download Scalable Disruptors: Design Modelling Symposium Kassel 2024 by Philipp Eversmann, Christoph Gengnagel, Julian Lienhard, Mette Ramsgaard Thomsen, Jan Wurm English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2024 | 593 Pages | ISBN : 3031682742 | 393.3 MB This book reflects and expands on current trends in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industries as they respond to the unfolding climate and biodiversity crisis. Shifting away from the traditional focuses, which are narrowly centered on efficiency, this book presents a variety of approaches to move the AEC community from a linear, extractive paradigm to circular and regenerative one. ![]() Free Download Satellite Monitoring of Water Resources in the Middle East by Amin Shaban English | EPUB | 2022 | 414 Pages | ISBN : 3031155483 | 153.7 MB This book presents both updated and new measurements on water resources from selective pilot areas form the Middle East. Demand for water has become very crucial notably in arid and semiarid regions like in the Middle East. The changing climate and the increased population are the most striking challenges on water resources in this region where the largest part of its territory is dry lands and deserts with minimal precipitation and high evaporation rates, and thus, the average per capita of water does not exceed 25 m3/year. This resulted in developing many studies and researches in different Middle East countries to clearly identify and assess the hydrological characteristics of the available water resources and to explore new resources in order to secure balanced water supply/demand. ![]() Free Download Safety Culture and Leading Indicators for Safety in the Maritime and Offshore Environment by Alexander Olsen English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2024 | 857 Pages | ISBN : 3031559428 | 44.9 MB This book provides guidance and insight into the development process for safety indicators to comply with general classification rule requirements. The utilisation of this guidance will provide tangible benefits as the marine and offshore industry is able to realise the positive results of tangible safety indicators that are developed correctly and managed appropriately throughout the lifecycle of the vessel or platform. ![]() Free Download Rural Technology Development and Delivery: RuTAG and Its Synergy with Other Initiatives by Subir Kumar Saha English | EPUB | 2019 | 357 Pages | ISBN : 9811364346 | 168.8 MB This book comprises the proceedings of a rural technologies conference organised by the Rural Technology Action Group (RuTAG), which was conceptualized and initiated by Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) to the Government of India R. Chidambaram in 2003-04. The book highlights case studies and research into providing science and technology interventions for the development of rural areas. Amato English | EPUB (True) | 2020 | 1058 Pages | ISBN : 3030286185 | 193 MB ISRR, the "International Symposium on Robotics Research", is one of robotics pioneering Symposia, which has established over the past two decades some of the field's most fundamental and lasting contributions. This book presents the results of the eighteenth edition of "Robotics Research" ISRR15, offering a collection of a broad range of topics in robotics. This symposium took place in Puerto Varas, Chile from December 11th to December 14th, 2017. The content of the contributions provides a wide coverage of the current state of robotics research, the advances and challenges in its theoretical foundation and technology basis, and the developments in its traditional and new emerging areas of applications. The diversity, novelty, and span of the work unfolding in these areas reveal the field's increased maturity and expanded scope and define the state of the art of robotics and its future direction. ![]() Free Download Robotic Object Recognition Using Vision and Touch by Peter K. Allen English | PDF | 1987 | 179 Pages | ISBN : 0898382459 | 17.2 MB This work describes a multi-sensor system for robotic object recogni- tion tasks that integrates passive stereo vision and active, exploratory tactile sensing. The complementary nature of these sensing modalities allows the system to discover the underlying 3-D structure of the objects to be recog- nized. This structure is embodied in rich, hierarchical, viewpoint- independent 3-D models of the objects which include curved surfaces, con- cavities and holes. The vision processing provides sparse 3-D data about regions of interest that are then actively explored by the tactile sensor which is mounted on the end of a robotic manipulator. A robust hierarchical pro- cedure has been developed to integrate the visual and tactile data into accu- rate 3-D surface and feature primitives. This integration of vision and touch provides geometric measures of the surfaces and features that are used in a matching phase to find model objects that are consistent with the sensory data. Methods for verification of the hypothesis are presented, including the sensing of visually occluded areas with the tactile sensor. A number of experiments have been performed using real sensors and real, noisy data to demonstrate the utility of these methods and the ability of such a system to recognize objects that would be difficult for a system using vision alone.
