Throughout his life, he had major influence on figures as diverse as Goethe, Schiller, Kant, Hegel, Hölderlin, Kierkegaard, and a host of others. Hamann is also one of the most difficult-to-read authors in the German language, writing in an ultracondensed, hyperallusive language for which he became infamous-and which his detractors constantly used to dismiss him. Today, Hamann has been picked up by literary theorists as a precursor of the linguistic turn. The Last Mask focuses on Hamann's final work, Entkleidung und Verklärung (1786), which was consciously conceived of as an "Abschluss" of his "kleine Autorschaft" and a final defense against his critics. Equally philological and theoretical, it identifies a number of previously unnoticed manuscript alterations that help answer some long-standing questions in Hamann scholarship as well as open new doors for inquiry. Importantly, the manuscripts show that Hamann is one of the earliest theorists of the virtual in our sense of the word today, using the word "virtualiter" to describe his own theory. He links this theory with the concept of the mask or disguise, and conceives of texts as fabrics or textiles composed of threads and strings. The philological focus is on Hamann's understanding of intertextuality, and on the basis of his dominant string images his notion of virtuality is brought into conversation with Deleuze's idea of a plane of immanence through the image of a skein of immanence, a knotted bundle of thread which solidifies into a three-dimensional virtual space-a new perspective in contemporary discussions surrounding the nature of virtuality. ![]() Bill Mann, "The Keep Calm Guy Change Leadership: How to lead people through change" English | 2020 | pages: 164 | ISBN: 1913340392 | EPUB | 0,6 mb 80% of change projects fail. It's a staggering amount. The most common reason is a reluctance to change by the people involved. It's not surprising really: people make up a business and it's those same people who must accept and adapt to change. ![]() Tareq Y. Ismael, Glenn E. Perry, "The International Relations of the Contemporary Middle East: Subordination and Beyond" English | 2013 | pages: 291 | ISBN: 041566134X, 0415661358 | PDF | 1,9 mb The Middle East, a few decades ago, was seen to be an autonomous subsystem of the global international political system. More recently, the region has been subordinated to the hegemony of a singular superpower, the US, bolstered by an alliance with Israel and a network of Arab client states. ![]() Sanjeev Sabhlok, "The Great Hysteria and The Broken State" English | ISBN: 1922449288 | 2020 | 134 pages | EPUB | 189 KB This pandemic is not a once in 100 year event but closer to a once in 30 year event. The hysteria is grossly overdone. There were WHO guidelines in 2019 about flu-type pandemics and none involved lockdowns. Australian governments including Victoria's had clear plans for all kinds of pandemics. None involved 5-km lockdowns, 23-hour curfews and mandatory masks even in the open air. These lockdowns are causing huge collateral damage while the governments remain in denial. The governments must lift the lockdowns and focus on the at-risk population. We also need constitutional and legal reforms to ensure that this doesn't occur again. ![]() Li Yu, "The Fragrant Companions: A Play About Love Between Women " English | ISBN: 0231206283 | 2022 | 400 pages | PDF | 4 MB Two young gentry women meet by chance at a nunnery in Yangzhou, where they fall in love at first sight. They consider the codification of rules governing marriage in societies around the ancient world, the changing conceptions of family wrought by the heightened pace of colonialism and globalization in the modern world, and how state policies shape families today. ![]() Maddy Court, "The Ex-Girlfriend of My Ex-Girlfriend Is My Girlfriend: Advice on Queer Dating, Love, and Friendship" English | ISBN: 1797201824 | 2021 | 168 pages | EPUB | 6 MB This illustrated book of advice on love, dating, and friendship-written by and for queer women and people of marginalized genders-is the new go-to queer relationship handbook. ![]() Susan P.
