ApulSoft ApUnmask is an audio plugin designed to reveal and enhance signal components that are normally hidden by psychoacoustic masking. It uses elements of the detection technology found in the Opus audio compression codec to identify parts of an audio signal that compression algorithms would normally discard because they are masked by louder sounds in time or frequency.
The extracted content can be amplified, shaped, and blended back into the music to expose subtle details and create a more pronounced, hyperrealistic character. A linear-phase graphical equalizer with a Bezier-smoothed frequency response provides control over the tonal balance of the extracted signal without overshoot.
ApUnmask can be used as a mastering effect on a complete mix or as an intelligent exciter for individual instruments. Its delta monitoring function allows users to listen directly to the signal components identified by the compression-based detection process before deciding how much of that material to add.
