ApulSoft SplitS is an audio plugin designed to isolate and control sibilance in vocal recordings without using the conventional processing approach of a de-esser. It separates a vocal signal into sibilant and non-sibilant components, allowing the two parts to be balanced independently and reducing the need for extensive manual editing of individual S sounds.
Instead of applying compression, EQ, or crossover processing, SplitS performs its separation on the full-range signal. When no gain adjustment is applied, the original signal remains intact. This makes the plugin suitable for precise vocal editing where problematic sibilance needs to be adjusted while preserving the rest of the recording.
SplitS uses spectral brightness, level, and pitch information for sibilance detection. Its waveform display provides real-time visual feedback of the detected split and level changes, while the S-Range function allows users to define minimum and maximum levels for detected S events.
