Christopher A. Preble, "Peace, War, and Liberty: Understanding U.S. Foreign Policy" English | ISBN: 1948647168 | 2019 | 250 pages | EPUB | 2 MB Has the United States been a force for liberty around the world? Should it be? And if so, how? To answer these questions, Christopher A. Preble traces the history of U.S. foreign policy from the American Founding to the present, examining the ideas that have animated it, asking whether America's policy choices have made the world safer and freer, and considering the impact of those choices on freedom at home. Fiorenzo Bastianelli, Peter van Nieuwenhuizen, "Path Integrals and Anomalies in Curved Space" English | 2006 | pages: 398 | ISBN: 0521847613, 0521120500 | PDF | 1,9 mb Path integrals provide a powerful method for describing quantum phenomena. This book introduces the quantum mechanics of particles moving in curved space by employing path integrals and then using them to compute anomalies in quantum field theories. These anomalies provide enormous constraints in the search for physical theories such as those of elementary particles, quantum gravity and string theories. An advanced text for researchers and graduate students of quantum field theory and string theory, the first part is also a stand-alone introduction to path integrals in quantum mechanics. Sion Williams, "Participatory Case Study Work " English | ISBN: 0367188074 | 2021 | 248 pages | EPUB | 5 MB Participatory Case Study Work shows academic co-researchers how to adapt and implement their methods so that data collection and analysis is authentically participatory. At the heart of this text is advocating a participatory approach to case study work, with co-construction as a catalyst for shared understanding and action in advancing ageing studies.

And it's written for everyone-not a specialized, self-selected audience. Tom Wetzel carefully explains how capitalism works and how the structure is stacked against us with an eye toward where power lies and how we can tip the scales. But to say 'written separately' makes no sense, for when two lives have been bent for so many years on one central enterprise―in this case, gardening―there really is no such thing as separately." Organisation and Management of Intensive Care: A Prospective Study in 12 European Countries By Dr. Dinis Reis Miranda, Dr. David W. Ryan, Dr. Wilmar B. Schaufeli, Dr. Václav Fidler (auth.), Dr. Dinis Reis Miranda, Dr. David W. Ryan, Dr. Wilmar B. Schaufeli, Dr. Václav Fidler (eds.) 1998 | 286 Pages | ISBN: 3642643280 | PDF | 6 MB From the viewpoint of a health economist, the intensive care unit (leU) is a particularly fascinating phenomenon. It is the epitome of "high-tech" medicine and frequently portrayed as the place where life-saving miracles are routinely wrought. But the popular imagina tion is also caught up in the darker side, when agonizing decisions have to be made to avoid futile and inhuman continuation of expen sive treatments. My analytical interests led me to approach these issues by asking what the evidence tells us about which leu activities are very bene ficial in relationship to their costs and which are not. This quickly translates into a slightly different question, namely, which patients are most appropriately treated in an leu and which not. Unfor tunately, it is very hard to answer these questions because it has pro ved very difficult to investigate these issues in the manner which is now regarded as the "gold standard:' namely by conducting rando mized clinical trials or alternative courses of action. I think this is a pity, and I am not at all convinced that it would be unethical to do so in many cases, because there is wide variation in practice and ge nuine doubt as to which practices are best -the two conditions that need to be fulfilled before such a trial is justifiable.
