Entrepreneurship in Context
Entrepreneurship in Context By Marco van Gelderen (editor), Enno Masurel (editor)
2011 | 256 Pages | ISBN: 0415890926 | PDF | 3 MB
Much research in entrepreneurship presents results as if they are universally and timelessly valid. Entrepreneurship in Context takes the opposite tack - it studies entrepreneurship as a context bound phenomenon. For entrepreneurship, the importance of context goes beyond gaining understanding and avoiding mistakes. The reciprocal influence exercised by the entrepreneurial venture and its corresponding context is at the very heart of the entrepreneur as an agent of change. The book addresses context in a narrow sense, i.e. a person's life situation and local, situational characteristics. It also deals with wider contexts such as social, industry, cultural, ethnic, sustainability-related, institutional, and historical contexts. The book studies the interconnectedness of all these various sub-contexts. It zooms in on the actions that entrepreneurs take to involve, engage, and influence their context and shows the changing and dynamic nature of context. It provides lessons for entrepreneurs about which contextual elements should be prioritized, engaged and sought out.

English MPs Legislators and Servants of their Constituents, 1750-1800
Michael W. McCahill, "English MPs: Legislators and Servants of their Constituents, 1750-1800"
English | ISBN: 1350332275 | 2023 | 288 pages | PDF | 22 MB
What was the role of elected legislators? Was it to represent the opinions of constituents or to vote according to their informed opinions reflecting the needs of the kingdom? Most authorities have accepted Edmund Burke's depiction of 18th-century MPs, insisting it was their right to form their opinions without reference to the instructions of constituents. This study provides answers to these important questions and, in doing so, reveals that Burke's vision does not represent how the House of Commons functioned during the last two decades of the 18th century.

Energy Management for Pollution Control
Energy Management for Pollution Control
English | 2018 | ISBN: 978-8740326598 | 616 pages | EPUB | 6.15 MB
Energy Management for Pollution Control is about strategies and skills that are used to solve problems for water pollution control, air pollution control, and solid waste management. The fundamental laws of conservation of energy and conservation of mass are used to evaluate energy requirements for heating and pumping, using waste solids and gases as fuel, including biogas from digesters and landfills, and the economic of energy management. Many solved examples and case studies are provided. This is an engineering text, but the concepts and calculations are accessible to non-engineers.

Elements of Dimensionality Reduction and Manifold Learning
Elements of Dimensionality Reduction and Manifold Learning
English | 2023 | ISBN: 3031106016 | 605 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 35 MB
Dimensionality reduction, also known as manifold learning, is an area of machine learning used for extracting informative features from data for better representation of data or separation between classes. This book presents a cohesive review of linear and nonlinear dimensionality reduction and manifold learning. Three main aspects of dimensionality reduction are covered: spectral dimensionality reduction, probabilistic dimensionality reduction, and neural network-based dimensionality reduction, which have geometric, probabilistic, and information-theoretic points of view to dimensionality reduction, respectively. The necessary background and preliminaries on linear algebra, optimization, and kernels are also explained to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the algorithms.

Eco-Effectiveness of Modular Products and Fleets within the Automotive Industry
Eco-Effectiveness of Modular Products and Fleets within the Automotive Industry
English | 2023 | ISBN: 3658405937 | 228 pages | True PDF,EPUB | 34.67 MB
The automotive industry is facing the challenge of reducing its environmental impact to comply with stricter fleet emission regulations. Still, an OEM's contribution to the targets of the Paris Agreement must consider the entire life cycle of a vehicle, surpassing the targets of the current legislations which focusses on the use stage only. This work presents a concept that identifies the ideal configuration of a modular product system like a vehicle to meet a limited environmental impact at the lowest life cycle costs along the entire life cycle. This optimization is based on the ideal combination of modular product components which are selected by an algorithm based on graph theory.
