Mirkwood A Novel About J. R. R. Tolkien
Free Download Steve Hillard, "Mirkwood: A Novel About J. R. R. Tolkien"
English | 2011 | pages: 460 | ISBN: 0615312543 | EPUB | 0,6 mb
Enter Mirkwood, the Great Forest of Doubt Bold new author Steve Hillard's wildly original debut, Mirkwood, re-invents J.R.R. Tolkien as a man haunted by the very myths he rewove into his famous works. As much literary criticism as boisterous epic, this episodically-driven Description explores the blurred borderlands where ancient tales, lost heroines, and epic journeys are stalked by dim monsters that will not be still. In 1970, Professor Tolkien makes a little-known visit to America-and sets in motion elvish powers embodied in a cache of archaic documents. Destinies are altered, legends become real, and two heroines must race for their lives in vastly different worlds.

Minds, Brains, and Doxa for Inclusive Entrepreneurship Entrepreneurial Ecosystems for Diverse Entrepreneurs
Free Download Minds, Brains, and Doxa for Inclusive Entrepreneurship: Entrepreneurial Ecosystems for Diverse Entrepreneurs (International Studies in Entrepreneurship, 47) by Kirsten Mikkelsen, Annika Wolf
English | April 3, 2024 | ISBN: 3031501632 | 236 pages | MOBI | 2.88 Mb
This book explores ways in which inclusive entrepreneurship enhances bottom-up entrepreneurial activity for economic and societal transformation, particularly in remote areas. It focuses on the role of stakeholders in shaping a successful entrepreneurial ecosystem (doxa) and how entrepreneurial ecosystems in larger cities and urban regions differ from those in rural regions, which often have weaker economic infrastructures. It examines the relationship between the internal and external entrepreneurial ecosystems in higher education for fostering entrepreneurial mindsets. Topics such as women and diversity in entrepreneurship; social entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial education are explored. This integration of inclusive and emancipatory aspects in entrepreneurship research and practice is of benefit to researchers, scholars, academics, practitioners, and policy makers interested in and have a passion for (re)building entrepreneurial ecosystems.

Microcavities and Photonic Bandgaps Physics and Applications
Free Download Microcavities and Photonic Bandgaps: Physics and Applications By C. Weisbuch, J. G. Rarity (auth.), John Rarity, Claude Weisbuch (eds.)
1996 | 601 Pages | ISBN: 9401066264 | PDF | 28 MB
The control of optical modes in microcavities or in photonic bandgap (PBG) materials is coming of age! Although these ideas could have been developed some time ago, it is only recently that they have emerged, due to advances in both atomic physics and in fabrication techniques, be it on the high-quality dielectric mirrors required for high-finesse Fabry Perot resonators or in semiconductor multilayer deposition methods. Initially the principles of quantum electro-dynamics (QED) were demonstrated in elegant atomic physics experiments. Now solid-state implementations are being investigated, with several subtle differences from the atomic case such as those due to their continuum of electronic states or the near Boson nature of their elementary excitations, the exciton. Research into quantum optics brings us ever newer concepts with potential to improve system performance such as photon squeezing, quantum cryptography, reversible taps, photonic de Broglie waves and quantum computers. The possibility of implementing these ideas with solid-state systems gives us hope that some could indeed find their way to the market, demonstrating the continuing importance of basic research for applications, be it in a somewhat more focused way than in earlier times for funding.

Methods in Biobanking
Free Download Methods in Biobanking By Don Chalmers (auth.), Joakim Dillner (eds.)
2011 | 370 Pages | ISBN: 1588299953 | PDF | 8 MB
International biobank collaborations allow for studies with large number of subjects where generalizability of findings across populations can be investigated, which means establishing quality criteria concerning the nature of the sample, conditions of sample storage, and the adequacy of available information is of vital importance. Methods in Biobanking brings together contributions from experts in the field in order to aid in the establishment of this much needed consistency. The volume discusses how to use existing collections of biological material to answer significant questions concerning the cause of disease without violating the personal integrity of participating sample donors, the ethical issues surrounding biobanks, guidelines for the use of coding systems and the use of biocomputing and registry linkages in research projects, as well as many other key subjects. As a volume in the highly successful Methods in Molecular Biology™ series, this collection provides the kind of detailed description and implementation advice that is crucial for getting optimal results. Authoritative and cutting-edge, Methods in Biobanking seeks to provide scientists with the tools necessary to take advantage of the tremendous current resources of the world's biobanks and strengthen those resources for the future.

Methods and Instrumentations Results and Recent Developments
Free Download Methods and Instrumentations: Results and Recent Developments By A. S. Marfunin (auth.), Prof. Dr. A. S. Marfunin (eds.)
1995 | 441 Pages | ISBN: 364278528X | PDF | 9 MB
All existing introductory reviews of mineralogy are written accord ing to the same algorithm, sometimes called the "Dana System of Mineralogy". Even modern advanced handbooks, which are cer tainly necessary, include basic data on minerals and are essentially descriptive. When basic information on the chemistry, structure, optical and physical properties, distinguished features and para genesis of 200-400 minerals is presented, then there is practically no further space available to include new ideas and concepts based on recent mineral studies. A possible solution to this dilemma would be to present a book beginning where introductory textbooks end for those already famil iar with the elementary concepts. Such a volume would be tailored to specialists in all fields of science and industry, interested in the most recent results in mineralogy. This approach may be called Advanced Mineralogy. Here, an attempt has been made to survey the current possibilities and aims in mineral mater investigations, including the main characteristics of all the methods, the most important problems and topics of mineralogy, and related studies. The individual volumes are composed of short, condensed chap ters. Each chapter presents in a complete, albeit condensed, form specific problems, methods, theories, and directions of investigations, and estimates their importance and strategic position in science and industry.

Merovingian Worlds
Free Download James T. Palmer, "Merovingian Worlds "
English | ISBN: 1108737595 | 2024 | 314 pages | PDF | 13 MB
The Merovingian Kingdoms (c. 450-751) dominated much of what is now France, Belgium, and Germany, and were the most powerful and long-lived of the states that transformed the inheritance of Rome after the Crisis of the Fifth Century. Yet they often remain representative of an imagined 'Dark Age', in which civility was eroded by migration, violence, illiteracy, superstition, and a retreat from globality. Through a deep exploration of manuscripts, charters, and burials, Merovingian Worlds offers a fresh account of the period, outlining its complexities, diversity and creativity. This was a world built on dynamic political, socio-economic, cultural, and religious interactions, and shaped by its wide-ranging connections from Britain and Ireland to Byzantium and beyond. The book provides a critical introduction to the rich source material and the modern debates that shaped our perception of Western Europe after the Fall of Rome.
