Salvation vs The Kingdom of God Reclaiming the Gospel Jesus Actually Preached

For generations, modern Christianity has focused almost exclusively on salvation-being forgiven of sin and going to heaven when we die. While that message is true and essential, it is not the full gospel Jesus preached.
In Salvation vs. The Kingdom of God: Reclaiming the Gospel Jesus Actually Preached, Dr. John M. Beckem II challenges readers to rediscover the message that stood at the center of Jesus' ministry: the Kingdom of God.
Jesus did not primarily preach a message about escaping earth for heaven. He proclaimed that God's Kingdom-God's active reign and authority-had arrived and was breaking into human history. Salvation, as this book argues, is not the destination; it is the doorway into Kingdom life.
Drawing from Scripture, theology, church history, and real-world case studies, Beckem demonstrates how the church gradually reduced the Kingdom of God to a distant afterlife rather than a present reality with practical implications for how believers live, lead, work, govern, and engage the world. Tracing the Kingdom theme from Genesis through the prophets, the teachings of Jesus, the writings of Paul, and the development of modern Christianity, the book exposes what was lost when salvation became the finish line instead of the starting point.
The consequences of this reduction are everywhere: shallow discipleship, Christians who look no different from the surrounding culture, churches that produce converts without forming disciples, faith that avoids responsibility, and a gospel that secures eternity while surrendering the present. At the same time, this book offers a compelling and hopeful alternative-a recovery of a Kingdom-centered gospel that produces mature believers, engaged communities, and lasting transformation.
Written for pastors, church leaders, serious students of Scripture, and believers who sense that something essential is missing, Salvation vs. The Kingdom of God does not diminish grace. It deepens it. Salvation remains the gift that rescues. The Kingdom is the calling that sends.
If you've ever wondered whether there is more to following Jesus than simply getting to heaven, this book is an invitation to step beyond the door and fully into the Kingdom Jesus proclaimed.
