The research on the mutual relationships of medieval states that emerged in the South Slavic region was not in the focus of historians during the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century. This was partly contributed to by the political circumstances in this region during the previous century, considering the fact that this territory was part of one state. The depiction of the relationship between the Bosnian Kingdom and the Serbian Despotate represents a reconstruction of the last phase in the relations between states created in the Bosnian and Serbian political space during the Middle Ages. Although the number of preserved Bosnian and Serbian sources from the Middle Ages is extremely small, it is particularly noteworthy that only one direct domestic source about the relations between these two countries in the 15th century has been preserved. The reconstruction of these relationships was done through information provided by archives in Dubrovnik, Venice, Budapest, Milan, and other contemporary centers. The book offers a representation of political, economic, cultural aspects, among which religious relationships stand out, as well as the issues of common borders. It also demonstrates how strong the influence of the geographical position of these states between the powerful forces of the Kingdom of Hungary and the Ottoman Empire was on their relationship.
