About the Simply Certified series
Simply Certified is a study guide series for working professionals who need to certify efficiently. Every title is built around the certifying body's published exam objectives, written in clear professional English, and edited to the depth the exam actually requires. Nothing is included to make the book look bigger.
About this book
The CDPSE (Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer) is ISACA's technical privacy credential, awarded to professionals who design and implement privacy controls across systems, infrastructure, and the data life cycle. It covers four domains: Privacy Governance, Privacy Risk Management and Compliance, Data Life Cycle Management, and Privacy Engineering. Domain 4, Privacy Engineering, carries 39 percent of the exam and is the most technical: technology stacks including cloud and legacy infrastructure, identity and access management, encryption and hashing, monitoring and logging, consent tagging, anonymization and pseudonymization, privacy enhancing technologies, and AI and machine learning considerations.
This guide is written to the current ISACA Exam Content Outline, the refreshed four-domain structure that restructured the credential from its earlier form. Each chapter maps to the published domain and sub-domain tasks, and the page budget is proportioned to the actual exam weighting: 20 percent, 18 percent, 23 percent, and 39 percent, so the technical Privacy Engineering content receives the depth the exam demands. The book teaches from the privacy engineer's build-it-in-by-design lens, explaining the reasoning behind data minimization decisions, the tradeoffs between anonymization and pseudonymization, how privacy enhancing technologies sit alongside encryption and IAM controls, and how to align technical choices to applicable regulation and the risk to the data subject.
Who it is for
This book is written for privacy engineers, security and IT architects moving into a privacy-by-design role, privacy analysts and program staff with a technical bent, and IT, audit, and risk practitioners adding CDPSE to an existing ISACA credential. It also serves privacy professionals holding a policy-oriented privacy credential who need to demonstrate technical implementation competence: CDPSE is the engineering complement to the IAPP line, covering the build-it-in layer that CIPP, CIPM, and CIPT do not test at the same depth.
What is inside Coverage of all four CDPSE domains, mapped to the current ISACA Exam Content Outline tasks and sub-domains
Plain-English, privacy-engineer explanations taught from the build-it-in-by-design perspective: why data minimization is an architectural decision, how to choose between anonymization and pseudonymization for a given context, where encryption and IAM sit in the data life cycle, and how to align technical control choices to GDPR, CCPA, and the NIST Privacy Framework
Exam Tip and Common Pitfall callouts in every chapter, targeting the decision patterns the exam rewards: privacy by design over bolt-on remediation, risk-to-the-data-subject reasoning, and the distinctions between governance, compliance, and technical control that cross-domain questions test
Two full-length practice exams, blueprint-weighted to the four CDPSE domain percentages, with a complete rationale for every answer choice explaining why the correct answer is right and why each other option is wrong, included in the book at no extra cost and no online login required
Aced It Publications produces every Simply Certified title to the same editorial standard: technically accurate, objective-mapped, and written to the length the exam actually demands.
