English | 2020 | ISBN: N/A | ASIN: B08LTFQJCP | 73 pages | EPUB | 4.35 Mb
This e-book is a collection of photographs of the work of Yasuko Ando, a stained glass artist living in Tsurui Village, Hokkaido, Japan.
She was born in Kushiro, Hokkaido in 1940.
She has lived as a housewife in a family with a civil servant husband and two sons.
She began to face the work in earnest when her eldest son became independent in her 50s after raising children.
Since 1998, she has set up a workshop and gallery adjacent to her home and has been making stained glass and leather art works.
Not satisfied with her talent, she traveled to France, Italy and the United States to learn stained glass techniques.
Even now, at the age of 80, she creates new works every year and is enthusiastic about self-improvement.
Her unique sensibility is reinforced by the Japanese spirit of "manufacturing" and European technology, and each work produced has a unique presence.
She continues to teach her disciples "a way of life for ordinary people to do art" through her classroom.
