Sanj experienced a desi-UK connection unlike others. Coming to British shores as a kid, all those many years ago, proved to be a baptism of fire. He never adjusted. The knife juggling clowns in his head eventually traded up for daggers and became increasingly erratic. He found solace in pumping iron. Experiencing those skin-ripping pumps gave him some momentary relief from the mundanities of life in western society. Getting hench gave him a goal, the process gave him an outlet, something to distract him from his torturous existence. Bodybuilding gave him plenty. But those clowns were always wreaking havoc at the back of his mind. It was a double-edged sword. From opening up doors, enabling him to get hitched to the woman he loved, to facing the wrath of gangsters and getting involved in a whole host of other unsavoury activities, lifting weights made him, but very nearly broke him.
