This volume offers the first holistic examination of the Astronomical Diaries, a remarkable set of 1000 clay tablets from ancient Babylon in which for over 500 years (6th-1st century BCE) scholars combined astronomical observations with records of events on earth.
Johannes Haubold is Professor of Classics at Princeton University. He has published several books on ancient Greek and Mesopotamian literature and culture (e.g. Greece and Mesopotamia: Dialogues in Literature, Cambridge 2013).
John Steele is Professor of the History of the Exact Sciences in Antiquity in the Department of Egyptology and Assyriology at Brown University. He has published extensively on Babylonian astronomy (e.g. A Brief History of Astronomy in the Middle East, London 2008).
