3-Spain: King Amadeo I grants Baldomero Espartero the title of Prince of Vergara, with the treatment of Royal Highness.
6- Argentina: murder of Geronimo G. Solano, healer and serial killer known as Tata Dios.
9-Africa: the presidential elections in Liberia give victory to Joseph Jenkins Roberts, who had been the first president of the country.
10-Rio de Janeiro: the peace treaty between Brazil and Paraguay is signed, two years after the end of the Paraguayan War.
12- Mexico: President Benito Juárez authorizes the entry into his ports of ships that fly the Cuban flag.
15- France: Offenbach premieres in Paris his comic opera Le roi Charlotte.
17- Philippines: a famine begins on the island of Mindanao, which will cause a series of rebellions by the Moors...
