DECISION– MAKING SKILLS FOR MANAGERS

For many managers in small to large-scale businesses, the responsibility of making big decisions rests on their shoulders. Some managers, on the other hand, are just indecisive and don't make many confident decisions, putting many important problems at risk.
As a manager, you must be able to make excellent decisions; no matter how far training and support in business management has come, it's still astonishing to see a number of people unable to do so.
Managers should be able to make decisions, and their success is directly correlated to their ability to do so. A manager must know when and how to make the right choice.
Even still, the fear of disappointing others keeps many people from making decisions. Some people would rather take over their bosses' businesses so that they are not held responsible if something goes wrong with the judgments they make.
In the long run, managers who consistently make good decisions and judgments will be more effective and trustworthy. Individual employees and customers will learn that, despite the fact that it may not be popular or simple, they can rely on their boss to make honest judgments and evaluations.
Your personal values and your organization's personal values may not always be compatible. Because many executives don't add "values" to the data they use to make choices on a regular basis, this happens more often than they realize. There is a common misconception that one's values are one's talents or qualities. There is a world of difference between these ideas, though.
