Plant Medicine emphasises the importance of getting to know the living plants that are used in herbal medicine.
The book is comprised of four parts:
Earth - Foundations of the Practice of Plant Medicine
Roots - Resourcing History for Plant Medicine
Flowers - Materia Medica of Plant Medicine
Fruit - Plant Medicine Therapeutics for Body Systems and Patient Groups
The trajectory progresses from Earth, i.e. material that is arguably both foundational and indicative of Non's and Christopher's approach to herbal medicine, before moving to Roots, which resources the past, learns from it and applies it to today. This is followed by Flowers, i.e. the materia medica section comprising knowledge of the properties of medicinal plants, which arguably attracts many to herbal medicine in the first place and keeps them there, before finally arriving at the edible Fruit, the therapeutic application of medicinal plants organised by body systems as well as patient groups.
Each part has its own introduction, laying out what is to come, with the material itself coming from a number of sources, including various teaching materials, written work and articles.
