The Atkins Diet is one of many weight-loss diets available worldwide.
Unlike the others, the Atkins Diet is a weight loss and weight maintenance eating plan named after a Cardiologist named Robert C. Atkins.
This diet emphasizes eating more fats and proteins while eating fewer carbohydrates.
The low carbohydrate content of this diet is because, according to Cardiologist Atkins, high carbohydrate content in meals causes obesity, heart disease, blood sugar imbalance, and type 2 diabetes.
This Atkins diet believes carbs should be controlled rather than fats to lose weight.
Aside from the fats and proteins this diet promotes, high-fiber vegetables are another food group that the Atkins Diet promotes.
Unlike other weight loss diets, the Atkins diet is crucial because it does not simply end with a group of foods class throughout the diet.
The Atkins diet is divided into four (4) phases, which are as follows:
Induction Phase (First Phase): During this first phase, your diet should consist of high protein, high fat, and low carbohydrate foods of 20g or less per day.
Balancing Phase (Phase 2): This is the stage where you've figured out what you're doing.
At this point, you gradually introduce low-carb vegetables, fruits, and nuts into your diet.
Fine-tuning Phase (Phase 3): You are almost at the end of your weight loss plan.
You can begin gradually incorporating more carbs into your diet to slow weight loss.
Maintenance Phase (Phase 4): At this point, you can consume as many healthy carbohydrates as your body can handle without gaining weight.
