Bookplate Betties

Bookplate Betties is the follow up to Belle Du Jour: Cheesecake by Bill Presing. Featuring 175 beautifully watercolored bookplate drawings of Presing's signature pin-up girls along with sketches and process photos.
This is not a book I was expecting to make. In a promotion for my previous book, Belle du Jour, I created a limited number of hand painted bookplates; some were for friends, some were for sale. Each piece of original art was tipped into the inside cover of a special edition of the book.
With a combination of acrylic washes and concentrated watercolor, I painted them in sets of ten or eleven at a time so I could move more quickly. I think this allowed for a spontaneity that usually doesn't make its way into my work; I'm very happy that it did.
I am very pleased to present the complete set of my "Bookplate Betties" (with a few extras thrown in). Enjoy!..M.F
