The Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) of India is the legislation that governs the procedural aspects of criminal law in India. It provides the framework for the investigation, trial, and punishment of criminal offenses. The CrPC was enacted in 1973 and has undergone several amendments since then.
The CrPC covers various aspects of criminal procedure, including the powers and jurisdiction of courts, arrest and detention of accused persons, bail and bonds, investigation by the police, gathering and recording of evidence, the process of trial, sentencing, and appeals.
