Lancaster at War

The first 'at War' publication chose as its subject the most successful heavy bomber of World War 2, an aircraft that made no less than 156,000 sorties over enemy territory and dropped a total of 608,612 tons of bombs - the mighty Avro Lancaster. Lancaster at War proved an immediate best seller and has been reprinted steadily over the years. Part of this success is attributable, obviously, to the authors who scoured the world for 20 years to find the stories and photographs for this nostalgic symposium. But the major reason behind this success story is the impact and abilities of the Lancaster itself.
