What's Covered? Get to Know Essential Italy:Rome, Italy's capital, is one of the great cities of Europe. It's a large, contemporary metropolis, yet there's no other place on earth where you'll encounter such powerful evocations of a long and spectacular past, from the Colosseum to the dome of St. Peter's. Umbria, north of Rome, is a region of rolling hills topped by attractive old towns, including Orvieto, Spoleto, Perugia, and Assisi, each with its own rich history and art treasures.
