understanding the digital underworld, or you've just made yourself incredibly paranoid about

Let's get one thing straight from the start: hacking is illegal. It's also unethical, immoral, and
will probably get you a free vacation to a federal prison where the Wi-Fi is terrible and the
roommates are worse. So why are we writing this? Because the best defense is knowledge, and
ignorance in the digital age is about as safe as using "password123" for your bank account.
This handbook isn't about turning you into a cybercriminal. It's about understanding how
cybercriminals think, operate, and inevitably mess up their lives. Think of it as a vaccine-we're
giving you a small, controlled dose of the disease so you can build immunity. Except instead of
measles, it's identity theft. Much scarier.
