More specifically, the book explores the tradition of mathematical modelling, introduced a century ago. This modelling was adapted to assist members of distinct communities to draw information about their own realities through the elaboration of representations, which generate mathematical knowledge that deals with creativity and invention. The book provides empirical evidence that a category of mathematical modelling developed in Latin America assesses the horizontal and reciprocal relations between mathematics (school/non-school contexts) and the real world. These relations provide an epistemological and ontological change, where mathematical knowledge of the others is recognized on a horizontal plane. Further, they oblige mathematics teachers and students to understand as a community of knowledge that builds their own mathematical categories of their environment governed by the reciprocal relationships between academic knowledge and functional knowledge. The dimensions of the relationships make up a frame of reference that guides educational change in mathematics. The book presents an inquiry-based approach of three Latin American modelling programs: ethnomodelling, transversality of knowledge, and reasoned decision-making. Each one, with its respective theoretical and methodological foundations related to ethnomathematics and mathematical modelling, socioepistemology, and the attribution of meaning to learning. Undoubtedly, the three mathematical modelling programs, independently, provide educational gains, each with its levels of specificity and loyal to its philosophical, theoretical, and methodological principles. However, the book places them together, organized by axes, to define a corpus of mathematical knowledge that envisions profound educational change through the development of different approaches of mathematical modelling. The authors of the 18 chapters in this book, who represent the diversity of Latin America, are from eight countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Honduras, and Mexico. They were invited to share their ideas, perspectives, and discuss investigations that represent a rich sample of three Latin American perspectives on mathematical modelling. ![]() Materials Ageing in Light-Water Reactors: Handbook of Destructive Assays English | 2022 | ISBN: 3030855996 | 2448 Pages | PDF (True) | 191 MB This book is an extensive and detailed guide to the subject of materials ageing in light-water nuclear reactors. Proper management of materials degradation is essential for the safe, reliable, and economic operation of nuclear power plants across the globe. This handbook features a stunning and thorough observational treatment of the key materials degradational phenomena in light-water reactors, capturing the results of some typical destructive examinations that have been carried out to understand and furthermore mitigate these failures. It provides a comprehensive collection of unique photographs, detailed schematics, concise analyses, as well as precise measurements and expert recommendations. It is organized in such a manner that engineers and scientists can use the observations presented to not only arrive at their own conclusions but also subsequently improve their knowledge of specific materials ageing issues. ![]() Nancy E. Marion, Joshua B. Hill, "Marijuana 360: Differing Perspectives on Legalization" English | 2019 | ISBN: 1442281650 | 214 pages | AZW3 / MOBI | 1.4 MB In 1996, California became the first state to legalize medical marijuana. Since then, 30 states and the District of Columbia have passed laws legalizing marijuana in some form. Nine of those states, including Alaska, Oregon, Colorado and Washington, have legalized marijuana for recreational use. Many states, including Arizona and Ohio, are considering legislation to allow for legalized cannabis use. ![]() Magnetic Domains: The Analysis of Magnetic Microstructures By Professor Dr. Alex Hubert, Dr. Rudolf Schäfer (auth.) 1998 | 696 Pages | ISBN: 3540641084 | PDF | 22 MB The rich world of magnetic microstructure or magnetic domains - extending from the "nano-world" to visible dimensions - is systematically covered in this book. The subject, which might be called "mesomagnetism", forms the link between atomic foundations and technical applications of magnetic materials, ranging from computer storage systems to the magnetic cores of electrical machinery. The structures and processes in the hidden inner world of magnets are also favourite examples in the theoretical analysis of complex systems. Independent of their scientific and technical relevance, magnetic microstructures are also esthetically appealing, and the authors could not resist this aspect of their work. ![]() Carla Del Ponte, Chuck Sudetic, "Madame Prosecutor: Confrontations with Humanity's Worst Criminals and the Culture of Impunity" English | 2011 | ISBN: 1590513029 | ASIN: B005II6KEY | EPUB | pages: 447 | 3.0 mb Carla Del Ponte won international recognition as Switzerland's attorney general when she pursued cases against the Sicilian mafia. In 1999, she answered the United Nations' call to become the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and for Rwanda. In her new role, Del Ponte confronted genocide and crimes against humanity head-on, struggling to bring to justice the highest-ranking individuals responsible for massive acts of violence in Rwanda, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Kosovo. ![]() Machine Learning on Geographical Data Using Python: Introduction into Geodata with Applications and Use Cases English | 2022 | ISBN: 1484282868 | 327 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 32 MB ![]() Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence for Agricultural Economics: Prognostic Data Analytics to Serve Small Scale Farmers Worldwide by Chandrasekar Vuppalapati English | EPUB | 2021 | 611 Pages | ISBN : 3030774848 | 160.5 MB This book discusses machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) for agricultural economics. It is written with a view towards bringing the benefits of advanced analytics and prognostics capabilities to small scale farmers worldwide. This volume provides data science and software engineering teams with the skills and tools to fully utilize economic models to develop the software capabilities necessary for creating lifesaving applications. ![]() ELIZABETH STURRIDGE, "MOSAIC DESIGN MADE EASY FOR BEGINNERS: Easy Step by Step Guide for Mosaic Design" English | 2021 | ASIN: B091DJCL9G, B091F3J98F | EPUB | pages: 17 | 0.3 mb LEARN HOW TO DESIGN MOSAIC ![]() MATLAB Fuzzy Logic Toolbox User's Guide English | 2022 | ISBN: n/a | 866 Pages | PDF (True) | 8 MB ![]() Benjamin Stokes, "Locally Played: Real-World Games for Stronger Places and Communities " English | ISBN: 0262043483 | 2020 | 288 pages | PDF | 17 MB In 2016, city officials were surprised when Pokémon GO brought millions of players out into the public space, blending digital participation with the physical. Yet for local control and empowerment, a new framework is needed to guide the power of mixed reality and pervasive play. In Locally Played, Benjamin Stokes describes the rise of games that can connect strangers across zip codes, support the "buy local" economy, and build cohesion in the fight for equity. With a mix of high- and low-tech games, Stokes shows, cities can tap into the power of play for the good of the group, including healthier neighborhoods and stronger communities. |
