Free Download Adrian Albala, "Indigenous Political Representation in Latin America "
English | ISBN: 3031339134 | 2023 | 268 pages | EPUB | 2 MB
This book presents a comparative analysis of the struggles of Latin American indigenous peoples for effective representation in national political systems in the region. Through a detailed exploration of the political dynamics of indigenous groups and examples of mechanisms of political representation, the studies in this book reveal how power relations, cleavages and indigenous civil society organizations are essential to our understanding of indigenous political participation. These studies closely inspect how collective action builds up at local level in grassroots organizations, and how it then articulates or not with larger mechanisms of regional and national political representation, providing a more comprehensive and comparative assessment of why and when representation works and fails for indigenous people.

Free Download Ashish Pandey, "Indigenous Indian Management: Conceptualization, Practical Applications and Pedagogical Initiatives "
English | ISBN: 3030879054 | 2022 | 594 pages | EPUB | 6 MB
This book reflects on the growing appetite for plurality in management knowledge that addresses the problems important to business and society. Over the last three decades, India's rapid economic growth has helped to make it a leading economy of the world. The social and cultural setting of India is unique because of its diversity, large population, and social and economic stratification. India is a living culture of more than three thousand years that simultaneously embraces traditional and contemporary beliefs and practices. From world trade to climate change to democratization, India's actions have a global impact. Reviewing management literature in the Indian context, this book attempts explaining and addressing the problems important to business and society. This book has three primary aims: to identify and describe the insights from traditional culture of India relevant to management, to report on the Indian institutional dynamics and its reflection on management and to present pedagogical initiatives that integrate the wisdom of Indian culture and tradition with contemporary management knowledge. In light of these objectives, this book will be relevant to management scholars, educators, and practitioners, particularly in the areas of organizational behavior, human resource management, strategic management, marketing, entrepreneurship, and international management.

Free Download Dominic O'Sullivan, "Indigeneity, Culture and the UN Sustainable Development Goals "
English | ISBN: 981990580X | 2023 | 291 pages | EPUB | 476 KB
This is the first scholarly book to examine the UN Sustainable Development Goals from an indigenous perspective and, specifically, with reference to the right to self-determination. It refers to the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and domestic instruments such as New Zealand's Tiriti o Waitangi to suggest how the goals could be revised to support self-determination as a more far-reaching and ambitious project than the goals imagine in their current form. The book primarily draws its material from Australia, Canada, and New Zealand to support analysing the goals' policy relevance to wealthy states and the political claims that indigenous peoples make in established liberal democracies.

Free Download Dhiman Chattopadhyay, "Indian Journalism and the Impact of Social Media "
English | ISBN: 3031073177 | 2022 | 282 pages | EPUB | 2 MB
This book is a pan-India study that examines social media's impact on Indian journalism, highlights emerging challenges, and discusses the way forward for India's newsrooms. A result of three years of field work, the project uses mixed-methods research - a survey of nearly 300 journalists from 15 Indian cities, followed by in-depth interviews with 25 senior editors - to analyze and explain journalists' perceptions about social media's usefulness and credibility, factors that influence their online news sourcing and sharing decisions, resultant challenges for newsrooms, and ways to address those challenges. The findings offer unique insights into how newer forces are influencing journalistic practices in an online-first era. Key differences emerge in perceptions between Indian journalists and their Western compatriots about who or what influence their actions. The findings also raise questions about Gatekeeping as a term to describe journalistic work in 21st Century India's newsrooms. The findings and the conclusions will hopefully help journalists, educators, and anyone interested in Indian journalism gain a deeper, more meaningful understanding about social media's impact on Indian journalism, and the way ahead for India's newsrooms.
