Kitai English | PDF | 1993 | 389 Pages | ISBN : 0412433400 | 48.4 MB Historically, black body radiation in the tungsten filament lamp was our primary industrial means for producing 'artificial' light, as it replaced gas lamps. Solid state luminescent devices for applications ranging from lamps to displays have proliferated since then, particularly owing to the develop ment of semiconductors and phosphors. Our lighting products are now mostly phosphor based and this 'cold light' is replacing an increasing fraction of tungsten filament lamps. Even light emitting diodes now chal lenge such lamps for automotive brake lights. In the area of information displays, cathode ray tube phosphors have proved themselves to be outstandingly efficient light emitters with excellent colour capability. The current push for flat panel displays is quite intense, and much confusion exists as to where development and commercialization will occur most rapidly, but with the need for colour, it is now apparent that solid state luminescence will play a primary role, as gas phase plasma displays do not conveniently permit colour at the high resolution needed today. The long term challenge to develop electroluminescent displays continues, and high performance fluorescent lamps currently illuminate liquid crystal monochrome and colour displays. The development of tri component rare earth phosphors is of particular importance. ![]() Free Download Solar Energy Thermal Technology by Brian Norton English | PDF | 1992 | 284 Pages | ISBN : 1447117441 | 24.6 MB Solar Energy Technology deals with all aspects of solar energy systems. The fundamentals of predicting avail- ability; economic appraisal strategies; specific collector sub-systems, including a proven analytical procedure for predicting performance; and analyses of solar energy systems from dryers to greenhouses, passive solar buildings to water pumps, are covered in depth. Researchers and technologists need to have an insight into the challenges implementation entails, and this book presents practical constraints, operational considerations, and the latest research results. The book should be of great interest to students as well as professionals undertaking feasibility studies, development and implementation, technical assistance, and training assignments. Political action and pressure groups will also find the text useful for developing energy policies. ![]() Free Download Software Engineering Perspectives in Intelligent Systems: Proceedings of 4th Computational Methods in Systems and Software 2020, Vol.2 by Radek Silhavy English | PDF | 2020 | 970 Pages | ISBN : 3030633187 | 107.2 MB This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 4th Computational Methods in Systems and Software 2020 (CoMeSySo 2020) proceedings. Grabmaier English | PDF | 1981 | 204 Pages | ISBN : 3642681778 | 27.4 MB 1.1 The Role of Silicon as a Semiconductor Silicon is unchallenged as a semiconductor base material in our present electronics indu stry. The reasons why it qualifies so strongly for this particular purpose are manyfold. The attractive combination of physical (electrical) properties of silicon and the unique properties of its native oxide layer have been the original factors for its breathtaking evolution in device technology. The majority of reasons, however, for its present status are correlated with industrial prosessing in terms of charge units ( economy), reliability (reproducibility), and flexibility, but also its availability. The latter point, in particular, plays an important role in the different long-term projects on the terrestrial application of solar cells. Practically inexhaustive resources of silicon dioxide form a sound basis even for the most pretentious programs on future alternatives to relieve the present situation in electrical power generation by photovol taics. Assuming a maximum percentage of 10% to be replaced by the year 2000 would roughly mean a cumulative annual production of 2 million metric tons of crude silicon (based on present solar cell standards)!). To illustrate the orders of magnitude that have to be discussed in pertinent programs: Today, the industrial silicon capacity of non-communistic countries (including ferrosili con and other alloys by their relative Si-content) amounts to some 2 million tons per year. |
