Mathematically speaking, numerical weather prediction (NWP) is an initial-value problem for a system of nonlinear partial differential equations in which the necessary initial values are known only incompletely and inaccurately. Data at the initial time of a numerical forecast can be supplemented, however, by observations of the atmos phere over a time interval preceding it. New observing systems, in particular polar-orbiting and geostationary satellites, which are providing observations continuously in time, make is absolutely necess ary to find new and more satisfactory methods of assimilating meteorological observations - for the dual purpose of defining atmospheric states and of issuing forecasts from the states thus defined. FUndamental progress in this area has been made in recent years and this book attempts to give a review and some suggestions for further improvements in the field of meteorological data assimila tion methods. The European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) every year organises seminars for the benefit of meteorologists and geophysicists of the ECMWF Member states. The 1980 Seminar was devoted to data assimilation methods, and this book contains selected lectures from that seminar. The purpose of the seminar was twofold: it was intended to give a basic introduction to the subject, as well as an overview of the latest developments in the field. ![]() Free Download Drug Allergy: Clinical Aspects, Diagnosis, Mechanisms, Structure-Activity Relationships by Brian A. Baldo English | EPUB | 2021 | 742 Pages | ISBN : 303051739X | 98 MB The second edition of this book spans the broad range of modern therapeutic drugs, from small molecules to biologic recombinant proteins. It offers a comprehensive review of the classification and description of different drug-induced systemic and cutaneous hypersensitivities; an up-to-date coverage of individual culprit drugs in each group of therapeutics; the diagnosis and mechanisms of reactions; and important structure-activity relationships. ![]() Free Download Document Analysis and Recognition - ICDAR 2021: 16th International Conference, Lausanne, Switzerland, September 5-10, 2021, Proceedings, Part II by Josep Lladós English | EPUB | 2021 | 878 Pages | ISBN : 3030863301 | 131.5 MB This four-volume set of LNCS 12821, LNCS 12822, LNCS 12823 and LNCS 12824, constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 16th International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition, ICDAR 2021, held in Lausanne, Switzerland in September 2021. It includes biographies of well-known scientists, describing their efforts, experiences and achievements and offering a modern interpretation of their legacy. This volume includes scientists from a wide range of time periods, academic disciplines, and geographical backgrounds, such as Giovanni Bianchi, Homer, Taqi Al-Din, Jacques de Vaucanson, Ma Jun, Xu Baosheng, Alexander Alexandrovich Golovin, Francesco di Giorgio and Cesare Rossi. ![]() Free Download Distinguished Figures in Mechanical Engineering in Spain and Ibero-America by Rafael López-García, Marco Ceccarelli English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2023 | 376 Pages | ISBN : 3031310748 | 125.3 MB This volume collects contributions on leading figures in mechanism and machine science (MMS) from Spain and Ibero-America over the last two centuries. The contributions examine scientists whose work resulted in relevant technical-scientific achievements, with an impact on technology and science in the historical evolution of MMS fields, and with an influence on the development of society at large. Biographical notes describing the efforts and achievements of these persons are included as well, but a technical survey is the core of each chapter, offering a modern interpretation of their legacy. ![]() Free Download Digital TV and Wireless Multimedia Communication: 17th International Forum, IFTC 2020, Shanghai, China, December 2, 2020, Revised Selected Papers by Guangtao Zhai English | PDF EPUB | 2021 | 457 Pages | ISBN : 9811611939 | 213.8 MB This book presents revised selected papers from the 17th International Forum on Digital TV and Wireless Multimedia Communication, IFTC 2020, held in Shanghai, China, in December 2020. ![]() Free Download Digital Electronics and Laboratory Computer Experiments by Charles L. Wilkins , Sam P. Perone , Charles E. Klopfenstein , Robert C. Williams , Donald E. Jones English | PDF | 1975 | 273 Pages | ISBN : 1461587220 | 17.5 MB Science undergraduates have come to accept the use of computers as commonplace. The daily use of portable sophisticated electronic calculators (some of them rivaling general-purpose minicomputers in their capa bi li ti es) has hastened this development. Over the past several years, computer assisted experimentation has assumed an important role in the experimental laboratory. Mini- and microcomputer systems have become an important part of the physical scientist's array of analytical instruments. Prompted by our beliefthat this was an inevitable development, we began several years aga to develop the curricular materials presented in this manual. At the outset, several objectives seemed important to uso First, insofar as possible, the experiments included should be thoroughly tested and error free. Second, they should be compatible with a variety of laboratory computer, data-acquisition, and control systems. Third, little or no previous background in either electronics or programming should be necessary. (Of course, such background would be advantageous. ) To satisfy these objectives, we decided to adopt a widespread high-level computer language, BASIC, suitably modified for the purpose. Furthermore, we have purposely avoided specifying any particular system or equipment. Rather, the functional characteristics of both hardware and software required are stipulated. The experiments have been developed using Varian 620 and Hewlett-Packard 2100 series computers, but we believe they are readily transferable to other commonly available computer systems with a minimum of difficulty. |
