Oasys Frew is a tool developed to enable engineers to analyse the behaviour and inform the design of flexible retaining wall-like structures, and is a core component of our Geotechnical Suite Pro and Geotechnical Suite bundles.
Oasys Frew
Flexible retaining structures are typical features in projects where temporary works are necessary, such as cofferdam design, and Oasys Frew enables engineers to analyse the behaviour of such. As a key precursor element to build new structures such as bridges or steep embankments adjacent to site boundaries or sensitive assets, either forming cuttings or via bottom-up construction Frew assists engineers make informed design decisions about flexible retaining wall structures.
Analyse the behaviour and inform the design of flexible retaining wall-like structures:
Oasys Frew analyses flexible earth retaining structures such as sheet pile and diaphragm walls.
Frew enables users to study the deformations of, and stresses within, the structure through a specified sequence of construction which usually involves the initial installation of the wall, followed by a series of activities such as; variations of soil levels and water pressures, the insertion or removal of struts or ground anchors and the application of surcharges.
Frew calculates displacements, earth pressures, bending moments, shear forces and strut (or anchor) forces occurring at each defined construction stage.
Frew has also available the Integral Bridge analysis package and can account for issues like wall thickness loss.
Frew uses Limit Equilibrium and pseudo-finite element calculation methods.
