What's new in OpenBridge Designer 2023 Update 1 (June 2024)
Note: This release v23.0.01.24 is a minor bug fix update. If you already have the previous release v23.00.00.xx installed on your machine, this version will update it. If you don't use a custom workspace and have all your templates and config files in the default folders
(such as this C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenBridge Designer 2023.00\OpenBridgeModeler\Configuration\Organization-Civil\) you should make a backup copy and after installation copy these backup files to the same location.
OpenBridge Designer (OBD) 2023 Update 1 and its components OpenBridge Modeler (OBM), RM Bridge Enterprise (RM), LEAP Bridge Concrete (LBC), and LEAP Bridge Steel (LBS) contains the following error corrections:
1. Error corrections in the components:
1.1 OpenBridge Modeler (OBM) 2023 Update 1
- 2D deck decoration issue.
In some files, 2d deck outlines are drawn incorrectly going straight from end to end instead of following the deck curvature. Does not affect beam layout.
- Descartes License: Access Denied message
'Bentley Descartes License - Access Denied' message pops up when opening files. This happens after installing newer versions of Bentley software with the latest Connection clients (23.00.01.25).
- "Import GCP file" when connected to PW, will allow user to pick from PW folder
- "Import GCP file" can now point to specific folder to open by default
Default new folders added with example gcp files
When not connected to ProjectWise, and the user clicks the "Import GCP File" button, the directory the user specifies should come from a configuration variable in _Bridge Default Standards - Imperial.cfg or - Metric.cfg
OBM_GCP_DIR = $(BRIDGE_ORGANIZATION_STANDARDS)OpenBridge Modeler/GC
- Editing Rebar requires ProConcrete license
Editing existing reinforcement incorrectly requires ProStructures License activation.
- Schedule Generator does not launch despite activating ProStructures License
Even after activating ProStructures License, the user is unable to use Schedule Generator in the Structures Detailing Tab.
- Synch to iTwins: Missing Item Type values when using lookup tables
On Collaborate Tab, an explicit Item Types Save Button has been added. This must be used after any change and prior to Synch to iTwin step.
- Synch to iTwins: Duplicate Item Type values
Fixed on iTwin Connector side. Requires updated Connectors (July '24 Connector Updates)
- Minor SPC (Structural Property Catalog) Update
- Incorrect Station Values for Item Types
Values are correct in OBM, but incorrect when viewed in MicroStation, due to conversion problems. Using new expressions and updated dgnlib item types. Fix is for Abutment/Pier Cap Stations, and Approach Slab/Deck Start and End Stations.
- Deck - Improved horizontal Point control including ability to handle sharp transitions
Set this variable in the config value
OBM_USE_ADVANCED_DECK_VARIATION_ALGORITHM = TRUE to get improved accuracy on complex deck modeling.
- Parametric Cells - Footing Reference Distance variable not working
Fixed. Model name must be the same as the ✅File Name for this to work correctly.
1.1.1 Technology Stack
- MS PowerPlatform v23 Update 2 (v23.0.2.469)
- Civil Platform (23.0.1.27)
- OpenRoads 2023 Update 1 (v23.0.1.11)
- ProStructures (v23.0.2.3)
- Certified with PW v23.06.03.12
- Generative Components (v23.0.2.10)
- GINT (23.0.2.1)
- Descartes (23.0.2.49)
- CONNECTION Client (23.0.01.25)
1.2 LEAP Bridge Concrete (LBC)
- Incorrect amount of steel reinforcement was considered in the maximum / minimum steel reinforcement design check in the Substructure module.
- Incorrect amount of longitudinal steel reinforcement was considered in the shear design check for the round pier column and drilled shaft in the Substructure module.
1.3 LEAP Bridge Steel (LBS)
- Total lateral bending stress due to wind load was not correctly reported in the steel design check.
- Flange stress without consideration of flange lateral bending determined as specified in Art. 6.10.1.6 was calculated incorrectly.
- Placing the deck and adding the future wearing surface caused the program to crash.
- Changing multiple member properties in a user's model with a flared deck and unequal spacing girders caused the program to crash.
- Performance ratios were erroneously reported as abnormally high when certain parameters set only for the grillage or FEM analysis were intentionally not calculated.
1.4 RM Bridge Enterprise (RM)
- Fixed a crash when generating Line Integrals in RM from OBD2023.
- Fixed a crash in Results page of RM when display results between force and displacement.
OpenBridge Designeris a unique application that combines modeling, analysis, and design into one comprehensive bridge product. The application utilizes the modeling capabilities of OpenBridge Modeler and the analysis and design features of LEAP Bridge Concrete, LEAP Bridge Steel and RM Bridge to meet the design and construction needs of all types of bridges. OpenBridge Designer offers direct interoperability for analysis and design, produce detailed reports, clash detection and construction simulation, quantities, geometry reports, and more. The application provides 3D parametric modeling, analysis, and load-rating software for bridges. Integrates with OpenRoads design applications, ProStructures for concrete rebar detailing and LumenRT for leveraging enhanced visualization.
