Super Chunk is a virtual bass synthesizer from Safari Audio inspired by the bold character of analog synthesizers from the 1970s. Its sound engine combines three complementary oscillators with saturation, filtering, ring modulation, and performance controls to produce deep bass tones, aggressive harmonics, and thick, textured sounds.
Designed for electronic music producers, sound designers, and musicians working with bass-driven styles, Super Chunk emphasizes direct control over sound creation. Its oscillator architecture makes it possible to combine powerful sub-bass frequencies with cutting upper harmonics and rich midrange character, providing a flexible foundation for bass lines, synth leads, and experimental electronic sounds.
The instrument also includes an envelope-based modulation system called Geeky Glasses. Rather than requiring elaborate modulation routing, this system lets users define target parameter values and shape their movement with an ADSR envelope. Combined with the built-in drive circuit, ring modulator, vibrato, glide, and spring reverb, Super Chunk supports both straightforward bass design and more unconventional sound experiments.
Software Overview
Safari Audio Super Keys Super Chunk is built around a three-oscillator architecture designed for weighty, harmonically rich bass synthesis. Bite supplies aggressive upper harmonics that help sounds remain prominent in dense mixes, Sub provides the fundamental low-frequency foundation, and Chunk adds a thick, saturated midrange character. Each oscillator has an octave shifter for adjusting its register and creating layered tonal combinations. The resulting sound can be shaped through a ladder-style filter with cutoff and resonance controls, while the dedicated Drive circuit adds saturation ranging from subtle warmth to more pronounced distortion.
Super Chunk extends its core synthesis features with ring modulation, vibrato, glide, legato behavior, and spring reverb. These tools support metallic textures, pitch movement, expressive monophonic performances, and spatial depth. The Geeky Glasses modulation system adds further control by allowing the ADSR envelope to influence selected filter, drive, and ring modulation parameters.
Key Features

- Sub oscillator for deep, fundamental low-frequency tones.
- Chunk oscillator for a thick, rich midrange with a saturated character.
- Individual octave shifters for adjusting oscillator ranges and building layered sounds.
- Ladder-style filter with cutoff and resonance controls for shaping the tonal response.
- Dedicated Drive circuit for adding saturation, warmth, and distortion.
- Ring modulator with independent pitch and amount controls for metallic and experimental textures.
- Built-in vibrato with rate and depth controls for introducing pitch variation.
- Glide and legato functionality for smooth pitch transitions and expressive monophonic playing.
- Integrated spring reverb for adding spatial depth.
- Geeky Glasses modulation system for directing ADSR envelope movement toward selected parameter values.
- Two assignable modulation controls, Mod 1 and Mod 2, for working with filter, drive, and ring modulation parameters.
- White modulation knobs for defining the range and direction of parameter movement.
Why Choose Safari Audio Super Keys Super Chunk
Safari Audio Super Keys Super Chunk is suitable for producers who need a dedicated instrument for designing prominent bass sounds, saturated synth tones, and unconventional electronic textures. Its three-oscillator architecture provides distinct tonal layers that can be combined and adjusted to suit different arrangements. The combination of filter saturation, ring modulation, and envelope-driven parameter control offers additional sound-design options beyond basic bass synthesis. Meanwhile, glide, legato, vibrato, and spring reverb provide practical tools for shaping expressive performances and adding character to individual sounds.
