Big Man Labs Big Pump v1.1.1

Software Overview

Big Pump uses a 4D Modulation engine that continuously analyzes incoming audio and adapts its response to the music. This allows different elements, such as kick drums and vocals, to react according to the signal's changing characteristics.
The plugin includes four distinct operating modes, adjustable Push and Pull behavior, curve boosting, parallel mixing, saturation options, stereo width control, and oversampling. These features provide flexibility for shaping loudness, density, transient response, and tonal character during mixing and mastering.

Key Features

• Single-Knob Control: Adjust the PUMP knob to move from subtle cohesion to more pronounced loudness and density shaping.

• 4D Modulation Engine: Continuously analyzes incoming audio and adapts the effect's response to the musical performance.

• Four Processing Modes:

  • Fat: Emphasizes low-frequency energy for a heavier sound.

  • Smooth: Uses a slower, more cohesive response.

  • Tight: Reacts quickly to transients for a controlled, punchy result.

  • Open: Focuses on the midrange and high frequencies for a more airy character.

Push and Pull Direction: Choose Push to lift levels around transients or Pull for a hotter baseline with downward movement. Switching directions is designed to remain level-matched.
Boost Control: Access a hotter, denser processing curve at the same PUMP setting without changing the selected pump depth.
Level-Matched Parallel Mix: Blend processed and dry signals while maintaining level matching across different INPUT drive settings.
Modern Saturation: Add clean odd-harmonic saturation for a contemporary tonal character.
Vintage Saturation: Introduce asymmetric drive and even-harmonic content for tube-style warmth.
Additional Transformer-Style Color: Apply a second saturation layer for extra tonal character.
Stereo Width Control: Drive the stereo sides more strongly than the center to enhance width and cohesion.
Delta Monitoring: Listen to the signal added by the plugin to evaluate the effect of the processing.
Oversampling: Select oversampling from 2x to 16x to help manage high-frequency artifacts during intensive processing.
Auto Gain: Maintain more consistent output levels for fair A/B comparisons.
Refined Response: Includes improved Fat mode ballistics, level-matched Delta monitoring at higher INPUT settings, and smoother handling of rapid knob adjustments.

What's New in Version 1.1.0

• Push and Pull: Added a direction switch for upward pumping or controlled downward movement.

• Boost: Introduced a curve-only boost for greater density without altering pump depth.

• Parallel Mix: Updated MIX to provide a level-matched parallel blend across INPUT drive settings.

• Smoother Response: Refined Fat mode behavior, Delta monitoring, and response to fast knob movements.

Why Choose Big Pump?

Big Pump combines dynamic loudness shaping, saturation, stereo processing, and level-matched comparison tools in a straightforward interface. Its distinct processing modes and adjustable response make it useful for producers and engineers seeking additional weight, punch, density, and movement without managing a complicated collection of controls.
