Detailed description of changes in Windows 11 build 22533.1001
General Information
• Microsoft is resetting the deployment of the updated entry point for taskbar weather widgets, which was first introduced in Build 22518. As a result, some Insiders who had this feature enabled may find that it has returned to the original interface as it was in the released version of Windows 11. However, Microsoft intends to rapidly expand the rollout to most Insiders in the Dev Channel;
• This build includes a good set of fixes and improvements, but as always, don't forget to check known issues as well;
• Microsoft is rolling out a new calling experience for the Your Phone app - details below.
Changes and improvements
• Microsoft has redesigned the pop-up window for the hardware indicators for brightness, volume, camera privacy, camera on/off, and airplane mode, in line with Windows 11 design principles. These new pop-up windows will appear when you press the volume or brightness keys on your device. laptop, and will take light/dark mode into account to provide a more consistent experience with Windows. The brightness and volume indicators continue to interact with the update;
• Now you can search for voice access on the taskbar and pin voice access to the taskbar or start menu, like other applications, and turn it on / off;
• Microsoft is expanding the rollout of the 13 touch keyboard extension for IMEs, emoji panel, and voice typing (first introduced in build 22504) to all Windows Insiders in the Dev Channe;
• When you press WIN + X or right-click the Start menu icon, the menu will now say "Installed apps" instead of "Apps and features";
• You can now uninstall the Clock app if you wish.
Fixes
[General]
• Fixed an issue that could cause Insiders to see error 0x8007012a during a driver or firmware update;
• Fixed an issue where insiders were sometimes unable to log in to certain applications such as the Feedback Hub;
• Corrected the text in the description of Exploit Protection in the Windows Security app to apply only to Windows and not to Windows 10;
• Fixed an issue where it was not possible to import photos from some cameras and mobile phones into the Photos app (it would just loop endlessly saying that 0 items were found so far);
• Starting Windows Sandbox, closing and restarting should no longer result in two Windows Sandbox icons appearing on the taskbar (one of which was not working);
[Taskbar]
• The Wi-Fi icon should now be displayed more reliably on the taskbar;
• If you have multiple monitors connected to your PC and you right-click the date and time on the taskbar on your primary monitor, explorer.exe will no longer crash;
• Holding CTRL and hovering over the task view icon in the taskbar should no longer crash explorer.exe;
[Settings App]
• Mitigated a major issue with the use of the Mica effect in the Settings app, which affected the overall reliability of the Settings app in recent builds;
• We fixed an issue affecting some Insiders that caused the Settings app to crash when trying to access the Installed Apps, Autostart Apps, and Default Apps pages;
• Mitigated an issue that caused the "Wheel" page in the "Settings" app to crash when adding an action to the app;
• You should no longer hear crackling when playing audio and repeatedly pressing the volume slider in the quick settings to change the volume;
[Windowing]
• If you hover over a clipped window title in ALT + Tab or Task View, a tooltip will now appear showing the window's full name;
[Input]
• Improved appearance of text color and buttons with theme applied to candidate window, emoji bar and clipboard (previously some buttons/text were hard to see with some custom background colors);
• The voice input launcher should no longer suddenly appear after clicking on the microphone icon to call voice input;
• For Insiders with an updated input switcher experience, accessibility tools like magnifier and narrator should now work better with it.
NOTE: Some of the fixes noted here in Insider Preview builds from the active development branch may make it into servicing updates for the released version of Windows 11 that went public on October 5th.
Known Issues
[Start Menu]
• In some cases, you may not be able to enter text when using search from the Start menu or taskbar. If you have a problem, press Win + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box and then close it;
[Taskbar]
• The taskbar sometimes flickers when switching input methods;
[Search]
• After clicking the search icon on the taskbar, the search bar may not open. In this case, restart the "Windows Explorer" process and open the search bar again;
[Application Settings]
• When browsing the list of available Wi-Fi networks, the signal strength indicators do not reflect the correct signal strength;
• The Settings app may crash when going to System > Display > HDR. If you need to enable or disable HDR on an HDR-enabled PC, you can do so using the keyboard shortcut WIN + ALT + B;
• There is an empty entry in the "Bluetooth and Devices" section;
[Widgets]
• Changing the alignment of the taskbar may cause the Widgets button to disappear from the taskbar;
• If you have multiple monitors, the content of widgets on the taskbar may not be synchronized between monitors;
• If the taskbar is left-aligned, information such as temperature is not displayed. This will be fixed in a future update;
