Are you a Grade R teacher who wants to introduce Coding, Robotics and STEM but is unsure where to begin?
This practical teacher-training course will help you build the knowledge, skills and confidence to introduce Coding and Robotics through age-appropriate, play-based learning.
You do not need to be a programmer or robotics expert. You also do not need expensive equipment. Throughout the course, you will discover how everyday classroom materials, movement, games, patterns and hands-on activities can become meaningful STEM learning experiences.
You will explorecomputational thinking, pattern recognition, sorting and grouping, algorithms, sequencing and unplugged coding. You will also learn how to introduce basic robotics concepts through direction, movement, grid-based activities and simple robot-building projects.
The course also introducesdigital citizenship, including internet safety, protecting personal information and digital wellness for young learners.
ThroughEngineering Design Through Play, you will learn how to guide learners through the process of Investigate, Design, Make, Evaluate and Communicate using simple construction challenges and recycled materials.
Finally, you will explore practical classroom implementation, including creating a STEM learning environment, classroom management, assessment and lesson planning.
