What you'll learn
Across six modules you will work through the chain of infection and learn where to break it; standard precautions including the WHO 5 Moments for Hand Hygiene and correct PPE selection, donning and doffing; transmission-based precautions for contact, droplet and airborne pathogens; decontamination and sterilisation using the Spaulding classification; the four major healthcare-associated infections — CAUTI, CLABSI, SSI and VAP — and the prevention bundles that stop them; and how to recognise and lead a structured outbreak response.
You will also learn to calculate and interpret HAI surveillance rates, including device-day rates and the standardised infection ratio. We work through the arithmetic together, step by step.
