Description
This self-paced course teaches IPv6 routing using RIPng (RIP next generation), building on prior RIPv2 knowledge and basic IPv6 addressing. Across seven modules plus an integrated four-router lab, students learn what RIPng is and where it fits, including its RFC 2080 origins and how it compares to RIPv2 in terms of hop-count metric, split horizon, and timers, versus what changed, like UDP port, multicast addressing, and interface-based configuration.
Students then move into protocol mechanics (multicast updates, timers, and metric behavior), followed by hands-on base configuration: enabling IPv6 unicast routing, creating a RIPng process, and activating it per interface.
