From backup-administrator checklists to a sovereign cyber recovery platform that survives a real ransomware drill.

What you'll learn

⚡ Architect enterprise ransomware resilience as a business-continuity problem — not a backup-administrator task
⚡ Implement true immutable storage with MinIO Object Lock, versioning, and retention classes
⚡ Build encrypted, deduplicated backup pipelines with Kopia and PostgreSQL logical backups, complete with checksums and structured manifests
⚡ Recover cloud-native workloads with Velero
⚡ Automate infrastructure recovery declaratively with OpenTofu, Ansible, and GitOps via Argo CD, culminating in a one-command recovery bootstrap
⚡ Design identity-resilient recovery
⚡ Detect tampering and validate integrity
⚡ Run real chaos drills — namespace destruction, database corruption, identity outage, and object-store credential compromise
⚡ Map every technical control to real compliance frameworks — GDPR breach readiness, NIS2-style continuity obligations, and DORA-style resilience testing
⚡ Deliver a capstone-grade Sovereign Logistics Cyber Recovery Platform

Requirements

❗ Knowledge: Basic Linux terminal comfort (navigating folders, running commands). No prior backup administration, Kubernetes, or disaster-recovery experience required — Module 1 builds everything from a bare workstation up. Basic SQL and Python reading ability helps in Modules 2 and 6 but isn't required; every script and query is explained plainly. No prior cloud, IaC, or GitOps experience needed — Module 4 builds OpenTofu, Ansible, and Argo CD skills from a local Kind cluster. Software (all free/open-source): Docker (or Podman), Git, Python 3. kubectl, kind, helm for the Kubernetes modules — a local cluster, not a cloud account. MinIO (S3-compatible object storage), Kopia, Velero, PostgreSQL — all run locally via Docker Compose. OpenTofu, Ansible, Argo CD, OPA, Falco, Syft, Cosign, and Keycloak — all free and open-source, installed and configured throughout the course. Hardware: 20GB+ free disk space, 8GB+ RAM recommended (MinIO, PostgreSQL, a Kubernetes cluster, Prometheus/Grafana/Loki, and Keycloak running concurrently in later modules). No cloud account, no real production infrastructure, and no real customer data required — every lab uses a synthetic logistics dataset (orders, shipments, inventory, carrier events) generated by your own scripts.

Description

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.
We only charge a fee solely for the time invested in building this comprehensive curriculum.
The "We Have Backups" Illusion
Every organization believes it has backups until ransomware attacks the backup itself. Modern ransomware doesn't just encrypt production data — it targets the recovery path directly: deleting or encrypting backup repositories, compromising the identity systems that control access to them, and exploiting mutable storage that looks safe until someone with valid (or stolen) credentials deletes everything. A logistics company can have nightly backups running for years and still fail completely, because the failure was never about whether backups existed — it was about whether they were immutable, whether recovery could happen without trusting compromised identity, and whether anyone had actually tested a full clean-room restore under realistic pressure.
This course closes that gap by treating ransomware resilience as what it actually is: a business-continuity architecture problem. You'll build a realistic logistics platform — orders, shipments, inventory, carrier integrations — and then you'll attack your own recovery path deliberately, in controlled drills, until you can prove, with evidence, that it survives.
The Solution: 100 Labs, One Growing Recovery Platform
Every lab follows the same Zero-Failure framework: a pre-flight check, a Git-based safety net, and a documented rollback. By Lab 10 you'll have completed your first full cycle — backup, delete, restore, prove — with real checksums confirming the restored data matches the original. Everything after that adds real production depth.
What's InsideModules 1–2 build your workstation and a genuinely realistic logistics platform: MinIO object storage, versioned and Object Lock-protected buckets, an encrypted Kopia backup repository, a PostgreSQL database modeling orders, shipments, inventory, and carrier events, a FastAPI service layer, and — critically — a capability map and dependency graph that ties recovery sequencing to actual business impact, with explicit RPO/RTO targets for every capability.
Module 3 moves from basic backups to tamper-resistant recovery assurance: PostgreSQL logical backups with checksums, Object Lock retention that genuinely blocks delete and overwrite attempts (tested against both admin and non-admin credentials), retention classes balancing recoverability against cost and legal obligations, a searchable restore catalog, safe corruption simulation, quarantine-before-promotion restore workflows, and formal proof-of-recovery reports.
Module 4 builds cloud-native recovery the right way: a local Kind Kubernetes cluster, containerized services, Helm packaging, GitOps deployment via Argo CD, Velero backup of both Kubernetes manifests and persistent volumes, clean-room restoration into a fresh namespace, full recovery after namespace deletion, and a one-command recovery bootstrap that rebuilds the entire platform from infrastructure-as-code.
Module 5 hardens the trust layer most disaster-recovery courses ignore entirely: Keycloak-based identity with genuine role separation, hardened Kubernetes RBAC (no unrestricted cluster-admin automation), encrypted GitOps secrets via SOPS/age, OPA policies enforcing backup labeling and immutable storage targets, network segmentation, an isolated clean-room recovery namespace, Falco runtime detection for tampering attempts, and a fully documented, time-boxed, audited break-glass access workflow — because recovery must survive identity compromise, not just data loss.
Module 6 proves the system, rather than just building it: Prometheus and Grafana for backup and restore SLO dashboards, Loki for searchable recovery logs, OpenTelemetry tracing across the API, SQL integrity tests and synthetic business transactions that validateusable recovery, full evidence bundling, and direct mapping of every control to GDPR, NIS2-style continuity, and DORA-style resilience testing requirements — plus explicit governance rules for any AI-assisted recovery notes, so automation never becomes an unaccountable black box.
Module 7 turns recovery into a genuinely orchestrated system: a recovery orchestrator script with a formal state machine (declared → isolated → selected → restored → validated → promoted → closed), evidence-gated clean-room promotion, automated ransomware tabletop exercises, and real destruction drills — namespace deletion, database corruption, identity outage, and object-store credential compromise — each one measured, timed, and validated end to end.
Module 8 finishes with sovereignty and research discipline: a jurisdiction-aware recovery topology, region-tagged backup metadata, OPA policies that block restores into disallowed regions, an offline recovery media package for limited-connectivity scenarios, SBOM generation and Cosign artifact signing for every recovery tool, a decentralized threat-and-tooling research watchlist, and Architecture Decision Records documenting every major tradeoff.
The Climax: Lab 100 — The Sovereign Logistics Cyber Recovery Platform
Lab 100 is a full capstone scenario: a simulated ransomware event destroys the Kubernetes-hosted logistics API, corrupts the PostgreSQL database, and takes down the identity provider — with attackers suspected of attempting to delete backups outright. You must restore a clean, trusted logistics capability inside an isolated recovery environment, using break-glass access where normal SSO has failed, while respecting data-residency constraints and preserving evidence throughout. The final demo destroys or corrupts the lab system, restores into a clean room, validates real logistics capability (not just "the pod is running"), promotes the clean service, and produces an audit-ready recovery evidence bundle with SBOM and signature verification.
Why Enroll Now
The market gap here is real and growing: strong 2026 job descriptions for cyber recovery, infrastructure resilience, and DevSecOps roles increasingly expect candidates who can design isolated recovery paths, implement genuine immutability, automate Kubernetes-native disaster recovery, and produce compliance-ready evidence — not just administer a backup tool. Every technology in this course is free and open-source (MinIO, Kopia, Velero, OpenTofu, Argo CD, OPA, Falco), so the platform you build is entirely yours — reproducible anywhere, with no vendor lock-in and no license fee standing between you and a real portfolio piece.

Who this course is for

⭐ The Backup Administrator Ready to Become a Cyber Recovery Architect You manage backup jobs and schedules today, but "prove we can recover from ransomware" is a bigger question than any backup tool answers by itself. This course builds the full architecture — immutable storage, clean-room recovery, identity resilience, and audit evidence — that separates a backup administrator from a cyber recovery engineer, using entirely open-source tools you can deploy anywhere.
⭐ The Platform/SRE Engineer Responsible for Kubernetes Disaster Recovery You run Kubernetes in production, and "we have Velero" isn't the same as "we've proven we can restore a destroyed namespace into a clean environment and validate the application actually works." This course builds that proof, repeatedly, through real destruction drills — namespace loss, database corruption, identity outage — each measured against real RTO/RPO targets.
⭐ The Security/Compliance Architect Building Defensible Resilience Evidence You're accountable for GDPR, NIS2, or DORA-adjacent resilience obligations, and "we have a disaster recovery plan" isn't the same as producing an audit-ready evidence bundle that proves it works. This course treats compliance as engineering evidence from Lab 1 — every control, from Object Lock to break-glass access, is mapped to a real governance requirement and backed by a working artifact, not a slide.
