1. Introduction to Pronunciation Coaching methodology & approach.
*Assessment* of learners' needs & areas of weakness as a group / or on 1-1 basis.
2. *Vowel Production* - mechanics of this & how to achieve different vowel resonances. Learning to distinguish & produce frequently confused "minimal pairs", for e.g. (but far from limited to) live vs leave, pot vs port, bed vs bad, come vs calm, fun vs fan etc.
3. *Consonant Articulation* - straightforward and highly effective exercises to strengthen learners' ability to distinguish & produce consonant sounds, highlighting the difference between voiced and voiceless consonants, and the communication problems that may arise when confusing the two or when being in the habit of devoicing (particularly at ends of words), eg. leave >> leaf, hard >> heart, dig >> dick(!)
4. *Connected Speech Patterns* - exercises and techniques to improve the ease and flow of non-native speech in English, to help learners sound more native-like, and to be able to follow and understand native conversations with greater ease.
5. *Rhythm and intonation* - highlighting the fundamental difference between content & function words, and how this effects the rhythm of speech in English. This area of pronunciation coaching can greatly improve a non-native speaker's ability to deliver pitches and presentations with more impact and with greater confidence.
6. *Spelling to Sound Issue* - highlighting spelling patterns and exceptions / deviants, working on learners' prejudices or pre-conceived ideas about the English language and how it is represented in the written form.
7. *Working with Client-specific Content / Texts* - a section of the course is tailored towards client-specific content; ranging from company Pitches, to slide Presentations, to the breaking down & drilling of problematic jargon language in English. In the absence of this, particularly difficult Areas of Weakness are revisited and further practice is included to iron said areas out.
