Follow me on a journey. You go to the art supply store. You stock up on new tubes of paint and pens and pencils. You are so excited to try everything out. You get home and then. the fear sets in.
Where do I start? What if I'm doing it wrong? How do I even use these new supplies? If you are anything like me, this is the point when you'd tuck those supplies into a drawer for a day when you felt a little braver, a little freer.
As I've moved through my illustration journey, I've had to find a way to create a safe space, where I felt free to try new materials, make a mess, and make mistakes. And that started with Acrylic Gouache.
In this class, I'll share this approach to mix media with you. It's an approach based in curiosity, observation, and nurturing your creative spirit. We'll embark on 7 different mixed media adventures, each focused on a different material and its properties. We'll follow prompts to uncover all the secrets of each new medium and apply what we've learned to a small, quick project.
This is not a class about advanced techniques but about observing and responding to what we see. Together we'll build our observational skills and our confidence to try new things so that we can approach each new painting with excitement. And so that we can take those exciting new supplies out of their drawers.
