Description
The first part of the course is a basic overview of the practice of process safety management, with a specific focus on its application to the work of occupational health and safety professionals. Topics include an examination of process safety management in general terms, how is coincides with - and diverges from - general OHS practice and provides insight on how OHS professionals can provide input into process safety management efforts. The course includes an overview of the occupational health and safety hazards, recommended control strategies, and suggested best practices for automated systems (i.e., drones, robotics, 3D printing) and nanomaterials. The second part of the course covers general safety information for working with or around electrical systems. We discuss key concepts and definitions relating to electricity (watt, amps, grounding, bonding, etc.), common injuries associated with electrical events, different types of electrical equipment, and various hazard control strategies to help keep workers safe (training, specialized PPE, inspection & maintenance, etc.).This is a standalone course taken from Industrial Safety Processes, which contains 21 topic lectures with over 16 hours of instructional videos (confined space, working at heights, nanotechnology, safety by design, PPE, process safety management, etc.). The course Industrial Safety Processes has been consistently rated as among the best course they have ever taken in the field of occupational health and safety, often commenting that the course "puts it all together" for them.Industrial Safety Processes covers 21 topics relevant to occupational health and safety practice in industrial environments. Topics include safety by design, woodworking, welding, heavy vehicles, confined spaces, working at heights and other key activities. Industrial Safety Processes is designed to provide solid background information for both new and experienced OHS professionals. It is modeled after reference material required for various North American OHS certifications: CRSP, CRST, and CST. While is it is not an exam prep course, Industrial Safety Processes is usually taken by students to increase their chance of being successful in those examinations. It is also commonly taken by new OHS professionals or non-OHS personnel to become rapidly familiar with best practices in managing health and safety issues relating to industrial and construction activities. The course Industrial Safety Processes has been consistently rated as among the best course they have ever taken in the field of occupational health and safety, often commenting that the course "puts it all together" for them. We hope that you will find this course both a rewarding experience and something truly valuable in your professional development toolbox. If so, please let others know.
