Description
This course goes over the common phrase "Like to/Want to" in Hawaiian. The phrases "Like To" and "Want to" are different in English. However, in Hawaiian, this common phrase uses the same word. Context and understanding how and when to use these words is extremely important. Students learn the different sentences with pronouns like I, you, and he/she and the different ways to put these words correctly unto sentences, listening and speaking practice. This sentence pattern is addressed in different ways using pronouns like I, You, and He/She. The context and different practice is used in a conversation/dialogue that is infused with Hawaiian values and sayings common to respect of the Hawaiian ways and values between a mother and her son. Hawaiian values are important to learn as well as the speaking aspect of Hawaiian because language and culture go hand in hand to the people. You will get practice in listening and speaking through listening, reading, hearing, and repeating phrases through repetition and practice. The dialogue is repeated twice and repetition happens twice for each sentence, and several more times during role playing of the different people speaking in the conversation. Students have the ability to rewind and practice the dialogue in easy to see slides and visual aids.
