In this course, you'll learn about what is vertical farming, different vertical farming techniques, its main impacts and challenges, as well as how to grow your own microgreens at home. This is a course easy to attend and has a low to medium degree of difficulty. This free course is for all the contributors that claimed the Masterclass perk in our crowdfunding campaign. The course is composed of four parts:Training module 1: Introduction to urban farming;Training module 2: Going deeper;Training module 3: Environmental and social impact of vertical farming;Workshop: How to grow your own microgreens at home.After the first module, we will go deeper into the technical aspects of urban farming, which include:Brief recaps of vertical farming, indoor farming, and controlled environment agricultureGrowing methods (so, hydroponics, crops, growing mediums, etc.)Plant physiology (which includes nutrition and photosynthesis)Pest and pathogens (including their management)And Some thoughts on the sustainability of it allFinally, a fun rap made by our colleague Stefano brings some comedy to the scene. Lecturers:Maria is one of the cofounders and RAIZ' chief scientist. I will be presenting this module and nº2. I have a degree In Biology and a master's In Conservation, and Professional experience in environmental impact consulting and hydroponics.Emiliano Gutierrez is also a cofounder and RAIZ' CEO and is responsible for business development and project management. He will be giving module nº3. He is an entrepreneur with international experience in renewable energy.And finally, Stefano Nti, he is also a cofounder and RAIZ' main advising grower. He will be giving the microgreen workshop.
