In this course, we begin to discuss applications of chemical reactions to a very important class of chemistry problems - oxidation and reduction (redox) reactions. First, we discuss the meaning of oxidation and reduction and give examples of these processes in the environment.
Next, we introduce the concept an oxidation-reduction reaction, also known as a redox reaction. We spend a great deal of time learning how to balance these types of redox reactions in acidic, neutral, and basic solutions. Finally, we work stoichiometry problems involving redox reactions along with a discussion of the activity series.
Numerous example problems are worked step by step to give the student practice and confidence with redox reactions.


All concepts are taught by fully worked example problems to teach students the most effective methods to solve chemistry problems!
