Description
Maintenance engineering is very wide discipline that involves different methods and tools for maintenance personnel, technicians and maintenance engineers. Some of these are best practices, analysis tools, methods for the organization and management of the maintenance function, strategies for the definition of the best maintenance policy to be adopted and so on. All of these instruments are a significant wealth of knowledge for the personnel involved in the maintenance process but they acquire major effectiveness when used in conjunction with the knowledge of the objects of maintenance. The objects of maintenance are the equipment and components which have to be maintained. This course doesn't claim to be exhaustive or to teach maintence technicians how to perform specific maintenance activities, but to spread knowledge about the main mechanical components that maintenance function uses to deal with. The course objective is to give a solid baseline of knowledge about the main mechanical equipment design and maintenance activities to be performed in order to be a guideline for mechanical maintenance technicians, engineers and supervisors. In the course scope is not involved electrical equipment and components which have specific standards that vary sfrom contry to country. In this course we will study the main mechanical equipment that maintenance operators and engineers usually deal with in proces industry:Plain Bearings, rolling element bearing, Belt drives, Chains, Couplings, gear drives, Variable speed drives, pumps and electric motors.
