Welcome! In this course, we will immerse ourselves in the vibrant world of Sevillanas, a traditional Spanish dance that embodies the passion of our culture.Originating in the city of Seville, Sevillanas are deeply rooted in Spanish folklore and are an essential part of celebrations, festivals, and social gatherings throughout the country.Throughout the classes, we will work on their execution in depth. I will explain how to dance them correctly step by step, so you can enjoy them on every occasion that comes your way.We will begin with the fundamentals, learning the basic steps, posture, and rhythm (compás) that form the foundation of Sevillanas. As we progress, we will gradually introduce more complex step sequences and arm movements, leading you to master the complete choreography and helping you gain confidence and skill through practice.But Sevillanas are more than just steps and arm movements; they are about expressing emotions, connecting with the music, and feeling the joy and sensations it conveys. Throughout the course, we will also explore some of the expressive elements of Sevillanas, teaching you how to infuse each step with your own personality and style.Whether you are a beginner or already familiar with Sevillanas and looking to refine your technique, this is the course for you.My name is Elena Alvarez. I hold a degree in Spanish Classical Dance from the Royal Conservatory of Dramatic Arts and Dance of Madrid.Join me and enjoy learning or perfecting your knowledge of this joyful dance.
