Description
This course contains the use of artificial intelligence. This course provides a complete and practical introduction to Siemens Plant Simulation, guiding you step by step from the very basics to building realistic industrial simulation models, with a strong emphasis on best practices, clarity, and repeatable modeling workflows used in real industrial environments worldwide.
This course is based on my 11+ years of hands-on experience with Plant Simulation, gained through projects for large companies as well as training students, universities, and commercial organizations.
This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.
You learn how to create material flow models using stations, conveyors, buffers, warehouses, transport systems (forklifts, AGVs), and workers, and how to configure logic, resources, shifts, machine failures and setups, scrap and rework simulation, creating and writing data to tables, importing MS Excel files, material flow control using exit strategies and the automatic routing function, 3D model creation and adjustment, 3D animations, simulation outputs (KPIs), and statistics in a clear and structured way — and much more.
The course covers both 2D and 3D environments, allowing you to build, visualize, and analyze simulation models in both representations.
Throughout the course, you work on practical examples that reflect real production and logistics systems, helping you understand how simulation is used in real industrial projects.
The focus is on correct model structure, efficient workflows, error detection, and result evaluation, not just on placing objects.
No prior simulation experience is required, and all concepts are explained in a simple and understandable way.
The course is created in version 2302, but it can be fully used from version 16 onward, as the differences in the user interface and functionality are minor. Using version 2302 in this course is an advantage, as the downloadable models can also be opened by users who do not have the latest or highest software version.
Note: In most lessons, you can download Plant Simulation model files (.spp) from the previous lecture, as well as a Final_model that represents the correctly completed model shown in the video. ing these files is optional, but they are useful if you want to compare your model and verify that it works correctly. Important: The .spp models from this course cannot be opened in software versions earlier than 2302.
Please note that this course does not teach programming in SimTalk 2.0; SimTalk 2.0 programming will be covered in a separate course that is currently in preparation. The knowledge and experience gained in this course will serve as a foundation for the future SimTalk 2.0 course.
