Carbon Nanomaterials in Hydrogenation Catalysis
Edward Furimsky, "Carbon Nanomaterials in Hydrogenation Catalysis"
English | 2019 | ISBN: 1788017234 | PDF | pages: 222 | 5.1 mb
Hydrogenation is a key reaction in both the food and petrochemical industries, where it is used to reduce carbon-carbon double bonds. Without a catalyst, hydrogenation reactions require extreme temperatures to occur, meaning catalysts are essential for the reaction to be industrially useful. During the past decade, the properties of many carbon nanomaterials that are relevant to hydrogenation catalysis have been described, including carbon nanotubes (CNTs), carbon nanofibers (CNFs), carbon nanohorns (CNHs), graphene oxide (GO), reduced graphene oxides (rGO) and fullerenes, that are relevant to hydrogenation catalysis, have been described. For many of these the production methods have advanced to the commercial stage. Numerous studies on the development of catalysts on carbon nano-supports have appeared in the scientific literature and these catalysts have shown remarkable activity and specificity.

CRC Handbook of Nucleobase Complexes
James R. Lusty, "CRC Handbook of Nucleobase Complexes"
English | 2018 | ISBN: 1138558370, 1138105112 | PDF | pages: 192 | 16.6 mb
The purpose of this easy-to-use handbook is to provide a quick, accessible reference to nucleobase complexes. It describes these complexes with reference to methods of preparation, their characterization, and their toxicity and therapeutic indices. It lists the modes of coordination together with the relevant spectral data and major methods of investigation. This concise resource guide also includes data on the uncomplexed bases, such as solubility, pk, accepted structures in the solid state and solutions, and the natural occurrence of the base. Investigators in the fields of transition metal chemistry, biological inorganic chemistry and those working in medical laboratories will find this handbook indispensable.

English | 2006 | ISBN: 0812696115 | EPUB | pages: 305 | 0.5 mb
Popular interest in bullshit - and its near relative, truthiness - is at an all-time high, but the subject has a rich philosophical history, with Hobbes, Locke, Hume, and Kant all weighing in on the matter. Here, contemporary philosophers reflect on bullshit from epistemological, ethical, metaphysical, historical, and political points of view. Tackling questions including what is bullshit, what does it do, is it a passing fad, and can it ever be eliminated, the book is a guide and resource for the many who find bullshit worth pondering.

To understand this critique is crucial for an age which has shown a mounting revulsion at the consequences of the Crystal Palace, symbol at once of technologico-industrial progress and its rationalist-scientist ideology, an age whose imaginative preoccupations have telescoped onto the individual, and whose interest has switched from the social realm to that of anarchic, inner, 'psychological man'.
